Exclamation Health - Veterans

THE INDIVIDUAL MANDATE TAX
The Democrats’ bill would add a new section 5000A to the Internal Revenue Code. Subsection
(a) of section 5000A would require that practically every American taxpayer obtain health
insurance that qualifies as “minimum essential coverage.” Subsection (f) would define
“minimum essential coverage” as one of ten types of health insurance:

1. Medicare
2. Medicaid
3. SCHIP
4. TRICARE for Life
5. Veterans’ health care
6. A health program for Peace Corps volunteers
7. Eligible employer-sponsored plans
8. Individual market plans offered through State Exchanges
9. Grandfathered health plans
10. Other types of health insurance deemed acceptable by the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Secretary of the Treasury.

***Highlights of New IRS Authority***
_ IRS agents verify if you have “acceptable” health care coverage
_ IRS has the authority to fine you up to $2,250 or 2 percent of your income (whichever is greater) for failure to prove that you have purchased “minimum essential coverage”

1. Mandatory insurance

Bill text: "Sec. 1501. Requirement to Maintain Minimum Essential Coverage.... An applicable individual shall for each month beginning after 2013 ensure that the individual, and any dependent of the individual who is an applicable individual, is covered under minimum essential coverage for such month."

Translation: Uncle Sam will now serve as your national insurance agent and force you to buy "minimum essential coverage" – or else you'll have to pay an annual fine.

However, what Congress considers "minimum essential coverage" and "essential health benefits requirements" includes comprehensive coverage that many neither need nor want. Plus, those who
prefer to carry catastrophic-only coverage won't have a free range of options for such coverage.

Bottom line: In a free society, the government should not force citizens to buy any product nor should the government mandate citizens' level of health-insurance coverage.

Rather than imposing penalties to coerce people into government-sanctioned health insurance, Congress should offer incentives to help those who wish to buy insurance but find it unaffordable.

Congress could allow everyone to deduct the full cost of health insurance (and provide tax credits for those with no tax liability), while offering assistance to those who can't afford insurance and subsidize high-risk pools for those with preexisting conditions.

Helping those in need is a much better way to reform our nation's healthcare system than overhauling the entire system and putting Big Brother in charge of deciding what is acceptable coverage for nearly every American.

Exclamation

What this means...

VA will meet minimum requirements for veterans but it doesn't cover families so a minimum policy will be required.

TriCare fits the Cadillac Plan definition so we will all pay a 40% tax regardless of income until we qualify for TriCare for Life.

Joy

How are veterans organizations were bought off, I don't know.
