Green Peter Lake; I hear it was named that because of what happens when you skinny-dip in it!

The first rule is that the media is to always be regarded as being the same as seagulls. Seagulls are flying rats that do little more than eat, crap, make annoying noises and are not on the team. ?Inbeds?, except for Ollie, are the same as Seagulls except have tails instead of wings, plus come equipped with cell phones, lap tops, greedy self-serving attitudes, pre-written stories and a nice dose of contempt for the troops that have their ass on the line. Fuck ?em, let the PIO buy them some drinks, tell sea stories and let it go at that. Officers and Senior NCO?s are in the business of managing the fighting and keeping the chaos more or less under control. Sometimes shit happens and they are the ones to deal with it, not some agenda-driven editor or stupid talking head in New York.

Vietnam taught us that the media was not on our side. Now the new guys in the field are relearning the same old sad lesson. As to the Marine in question, well, my suggestion is that he be given a Chief?s Mast at the Senior NCO club and be sentenced to consume at least one free pitcher of his favorite suds over a period of time he chooses within the same evening. That?s stiff punishment I know, but I think a good Marine can handle it easily enough.
