Default Special Ops/Airborne Coins

Do any of you airborne troops still carry your coin with you? I carry my 5th SFG coin all the time. Do any of you know if Navy SEAL and Marine Recon units have coins. My brother was with the 5th recon Bn 3rd FMF in Viet Nam and said they did not have coins, but did not know about the SEALS. My son has a solid gold coin issued for the 50th anniversary jump at Normandy.

We always had the standing order, that when a guy "challenged" youwith his coin and you did not have yours, or a more covented one, you buy.

My wife built me a very nice shadow box and all of my coins are in there. The only time i get them out is when I know I am going to see an old buddy.

Default Still have my coins.

Don't leave home without em. Thought SF started the coin thing then everybody else copied off of us. Believe 10th SFG had the First Coin.

I have one but always carry the 5th SFG, It used to be tradition to sew a silver dollar under your Glider patch on the C---,, cap Garrison Cap. Still have that one but would have to look for it.

Default Catman

About two years ago I was driving down the road and two young guys got behind me and started waving and honking their horn. I shifted lanes and they pulled up and started waving their coins at me ( I have a SF sticker in my rear window). At the next light I waved my coin back at them and one of the guys jumped out of the pickup and ran over and threw 5 bucks in my window.

Good one, never heard of that before. Wish they would do that around here. I would start minting coins and tape them to my back window.

Don't do that.
I used to have a license plate that said EXLRRP
I was pulled over 3 times in less than a year by cops who told me they were in SF and wanted to talk about it.
Good thing I don't drink or get high any more.
My unit (E Co/20th Inf (LRP) has a challenge coin but I don't feel like challenging people unless I really mean it. I'd much rather have the psycovets ball cap, it says it all, thanks Sid!!

Default Those window stickers can save you

Sometime back DMZ-LT and I were leaving a local Adult beverage bar and LT was pulled over immediately. I went up a few blocks and turned around hoping I could save them from towing his truck. By the time I got back LT and truck were already gone. I went to another local watering hole to await the call from lockup and LT was already there. Seems he had a 101st sticker in his window and the cop had also been in the 101st. Asked for DL then BSed for awhile. All of the time LT was trying to figure out how to explain the .45, .38, the boot knife and magic herb cigs with him.

I keep a 1st Cav decal and firefighters Maltese Cross in my window, with WI firefighter plates. I meet cops doing 70 in a 55, and they just wave. Guess they figure they better be nice so when they wrap it around a tree, I will be willing to cut them out.
