A couple days later I got a 1941 wheat cent in change from somewhere. Not bad for one week, huh? ![]() Do any of ya'll still find old coins in your change from time to time? |

![]() Usually, when you go to a store and get change like this, someone's house got broken into or a kid is ripping off his parents or grandparents.

![]() When I lived in Minnesota, there was a LOT of Canadian coinage in circulation. No one seemed to have any problem with it.

![]() If you have any old Nickels from the WWII years they have a high silver content(40% I think) because the war effort needed the nickel and the pennies were Steel also at that time. A magnet can find them in your penny jar quick. When I was on Active duty I would trade the cashier for 50 cent pieces and "Ike" dollars
![]() ![]() One year I went on the Hoover Dam tour with one of the workers I used to know and we went to the base of the dam where the coins people throw over the dam land and I picked up some neat foreign coins and some misc change . My friend that used to work there told us that a few of the employees would pick up the change over the year and use it to go on Vacation ![]() ![]()

![]() Boats,
That's correct - the American public named it the Mercury dime because it looked so closely like the paintings of the Roman god MERCURY. In actuality the image was intended to be LIBERTY with a winged helmet, representing freedom of thought. The correct name for the design is the Winged Liberty Head dime. It was coined from 1916 through 1945. |
