STAND BY ME
Ben E. King When the night has come And the land is gone And the moon is the only light we'll see I won't be afraid,no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me Chorus: * So Darlin, darlin, stand by me Whoa, stand by me Oh, stand, stand by me * If the sky we look upon, should tumble and fall And the mountains should crumble to the sea I won't cry, I won't cry No I won't, shed a tear Just as long as you stand, stand by me Repeat chorus |

You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' Lyrics
Lyrics: You never close your eyes anymore When I kiss your lips And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips. You're tryin' hard not to show it but baby baby I know it. You're lost that lovin' feelin' Wooh oh that lovin' feelin'. You're lost that lovin' feelin'. Now it's gone gone gone. Wooh oh oh oh. Now there's no welcome look in your eyes When I reach for you And girl you're startin' to criticize little things I do. It makes me just feel like cryin' 'cause baby something beautiful's dyin'. You're lost that lovin' feelin' ... |

Fools Fall in Love
(Words & music by Leiber - Stoller) Fools fall in love in a hurry Fools give their hearts much too soon Just put in two bars of stardust Just hang out one silly moon Oh! They've got their love torches burning When they should be playing it cool I used to laugh but now I'm the same Take a look at a brand new fool Fools fall in love just like schoolgirls Blinded by rose colored dreams They build their castles on wishes With only rainbows for beams Oh! They're making plans for the future When they should be right back in school I used to laugh but now I'm the same Take a look at a brand new fool All right! They've got their love torches burning When they should be playing it cool I used to laugh but now I'm the same Take a look at a brand new fool Take a look at a brand new fool |

What's Going On
Written by: Al Cleveland/Marvin Gaye/Renaldo Benson Performed by: Marvin Gaye -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mother, mother There's too many of you crying Brother, brother, brother There's far too many of you dying You know we've got to find a way To bring some lovin' here today - Ya Father, father We don't need to escalate You see, war is not the answer For only love can conquer hate You know we've got to find a way To bring some lovin' here today Picket lines and picket signs Don't punish me with brutality Talk to me, so you can see Oh, what's going on What's going on Ya, what's going on Ah, what's going on In the mean time Right on, baby Right on Right on Father, father, everybody thinks we're wrong Oh, but who are they to judge us Simply because our hair is long Oh, you know we've got to find a way To bring some understanding here today Oh Picket lines and picket signs Don't punish me with brutality Talk to me So you can see What's going on Ya, what's going on Tell me what's going on I'll tell you what's going on - Uh Right on baby Right on baby |

Like A Rock
Words and Music by Bob Seger
Stood there boldly Sweatin' in the sun Felt like a million Felt like number one The height of summer I'd never felt that strong Like a rock I was eighteen Didn't have a care Working for peanuts Not a dime to spare But I was lean and Solid everywhere Like a rock My hands were steady My eyes were clear and bright My walk had purpose My steps were quick and light And I held firmly To what I felt was right Like a rock Like a rock, I was strong as I could be Like a rock, nothin' ever got to me Like a rock, I was something to see Like a rock And I stood arrow straight Unencumbered by the weight Of all these hustlers and their schemes I stood proud, I stood tall High above it all I still believed in my dreams Twenty years now Where'd they go? twenty years I don't know sit and I wonder sometimes Where they've gone And sometimes late at night When I'm bathed in the firelight The moon comes callin' a ghostly white And I recall recall Like a rock. standin' arrow straight Like a rock, chargin' from the gate Like a rock, carryin' the weight Like a rock Lihe a rock, the sun upon my skin Like a rock, hard against the wind Like a rock, I see myself again Like a rock

My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
recorded by Willie Nelson
Written by Sharon Rice. I grew up a-dreamin' of bein' a cowboy, Lovin' the cowboy ways. Pursuin' the life of my high-ridin' heroes, I burned up my childhood days. I learned all the rules of the modern-day drifter, Don't you hold on to nothin' too long. Just take what you need from the ladies, then leave them, With the words of a sad country song. My heroes have always been cowboys. And they still are, it seems. Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of, Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams. Cowboys are special with their own brand of misery, From being alone too long. You could die from the cold in the arms of a nightmare, Knowin' well your best days are gone. Pickin' up hookers instead of my pen, I let the words of my years fade away. Old worn-out saddles, an 'old worn-out memories, With no one and no place to stay. My heroes have always been cowboys. And they still are, it seems. Sadly, in search of, but one step in back of, Themselves and their slow-movin' dreams.

Gentle On My Mind
Words & Music by John Hartford
It's knowing that your door is always open And your path is free to walk That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag Rolled up and stashed behind your couch And it's knowing I'm not shackled By forgotten words and bonds And the ink stains that have dried upon some line That keeps you in the backroads By the rivers of my mem'ry That keeps you ever gentle on my mind It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy Planted on their columns now that binds me Or something that somebody said Because they thought we fit together walking It's just knowing that the world will not be cursing Or forgiving when I walk along some railroad track and find That you are moving on the backroads By the rivers of my mem'ry And for hours you're just gentle on my mind Though the wheat fields and the clothes lines And the junkyards and the highways come between us And some other woman crying to her mother 'Cause she turned and I was gone I still might run in silence tears of joy might stain my face And the summer sun might burn me 'til I'm blind But not to where I cannot see you walkin' on the backroads By the rivers flowing gentle on my mind I dip my cup of soup back from the gurglin' Cracklin' caldron in some train yard My beard a roughning coal pile and A dirty hat pulled low across my face Through cupped hands 'round a tin can I pretend I hold you to my breast and find That you're waving from the backroads By the rivers of my mem'ry Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind

I'm sorry, but when the chips are down, and I'm up against a wall- it's got to be
Amazing Grace , how sweet the sound , to save a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind but now I see. Gets me through it every time. |

I've been looking for the lyrics for the Carly Simon that say "first time ever I saw your face." Anyone know the title or all the lyrics? Really want to find them..was the first thing that ran through my mind when I saw my granddaughter for the first time & she grabbed my by the finger. Stole my heart.
Thanks Joe:cd::cd: |
