Though, it's truly unfortunate for America and All Americans
that politicians of whatever BENT here ALWAYS
calling-the-shots for The Military, don't consider such an
unarguable common sense and tactic for survival as a nation,
good at all.
Just not Politically Correct and/or offending too many (even enemy).

Besides, no such sensible and practical wisdom has been
displayed by America's political leaders since WWII,...
and now wonder no large-scale military conflicts have been
ACTUALLY RESOLVED FAVORABLY for America since WWII.
Quite the opposite and also lousy track record.

In fact, any sound trouncing or victories over America's
enemies after WWII never resolved anything for anyone.
Animosities between nations only left festering for decades,
and which inevitably could flash-up at any time and/or
whenever avowed enemies once again feel comfortable
KILLING Americans AGAIN.

Also, and since political mindsets haven't changed even
after: "9/11",...I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for America's
Political Leaders to get their collective heads out of their
collective butts and protect America & Americans MOSTLY,...
anytime soon or before too late.
Just not in the cards and/or basically politically-rigged-deck.
