January 30, 1964 (16th day of the 12th month, Year of the Hare)(US Advisory: A junta headed by Major General Nguyen Khanh deposes Duong Van Minh ("Big Minh") in South Vietnam but little is changed.

January 30, 1966 (10th day of the 1st month, Year of the Horse)(US Counteroffensive): Operation Double Eagle I update.

January 30, 1967 (20th day of the 12th month, Year of the Horse) (US Counteroffensive Phase II): Operation Big Spring in War Zone D begins in III Corps.

January 30, 1968 (1st month, Year of the Monkey [Mau Than]) (US Counteroffensive Phase III): LBJ signs a record $186 billion budget.

January 30, 1968 (1st month, Year of the Monkey [Mau Than]) (US Counteroffensive Phase III): A series of enemy attacks hit towns and installations in I Corps, including the province capitals and cities of Hoi An and its nearby military base (ground attack in battalion strength), Kontum, Pleiku, Qui Nhon and its nearby military facility (ground attack by two battalions, but the garrison was already on full alert following the recent capture of enemy propaganda tapes), Ban Me Thuot (mortar and rocket fire followed by a ground attack), and Nha Trang and its nearby military base (ground attack in battalion strength), as well as military installations near Phu Loc, Da Nang (sapper attack against ARVN's I Corps HQ) and An Khe, causes the allies to cancel their truce at 1100.

January 30, 1968 (1st month, Year of the Monkey [Mau Than]) (US Counteroffensive Phase III): Operation Maeng No 9 ends.

January 30, 1968 (1st month, Year of the Monkey [Mau Than]) (US Counteroffensive Phase III): Khe Sanh: Believing that the NVA HQ controlling the forces around Khe Sanh or the entire northern region has been located inside Laos, General Westmoreland orders the single largest Arc Light strike of the war.

January 30, 1969 (13th day of the 12th month, Year of the Monkey)(US Counteroffensive Phase VI): MRF Bravo begins a water blockade along the Song Can Tho and the Kinh Xa Mo in Phong Dinh Province in IV Corps.

January 30, 1971 (4th day of the 1st month, Year of the Boar)(US Counteroffensive Phase VII): Dewey Canyon II starts, with ARVN and US forces clearing Communist ambush sites and mines on Highway 9 from central Quang Tri Province to the Laos border, so that ARVN ground forces can concentrate near the former combat base at Khe Sanh. At one minute past midnight, the 1st Brigade of the 5th US Infantry (Mechanized) spearheads the ARVN advance to Khe Sanh.
