Vietnam - US bilateral trade is on the rise

(EXCERPT) Lower prices and better quality are the main reasons behind
the dramatic increase in goods exported from Vietnam to the United
States during the first nine months this year, according to an
official from the US embassy to Vietnam.

The US Embassy’s Counselor for Trade Affairs, Michael Frisby, said
the US-Vietnam bilateral trade agreement (BTA) has had a noticeable
impact on Vietnam exports to the US.

Apparently, the lower tariffs under the US-Vietnam bilateral trade
agreement signed in October 2001 significantly contributes to the
higher competitiveness and the greater presence of Vietnamese goods on
the US market during the last two years, Fisby said.
