Going hermitile in Vietnam
Anybody hear this expression?
Going hermitile, went hermitile - going ballistic, went ballistic, also used to mean going stir crazy or getting cabin fever. Any other definitions? I first heard hermitile and "going hermitile" in the 1960s, on a ship and probably spoken by a southerner. As in; "He got a dear john letter and went hermitile in the ville" or, "The Chief tore up his liberty card and he went hermitile." I can't be the only here who has heard this word or used it. |

You just might be. I never heard it, for what that's worth. Doug |

I grew up and always used HERPENTILE. Other than the difference in pronunciation, I used the word quite a lot. -- Dave Thompson (The Other) |
