Lightbulb The Matrix Of A Big Brother

[A Work Of FICTION!]

Was there ever a time in the brief, though bloody history of mankind, when some ambitious type has not risen through the political and/or military ranks to seize hold of the world and shake it to the core? ?How far back do you want to go?!? To the Pharaohs, Caesars, Kings, Emperors, or Dictators perhaps? The human race has never suffered a shortage of individuals (men and women alike), who have not day-dreamed of total domination. ?This is, after all, the nature of the human beast, is it not??

Sometimes it is greed that sires ambition, others seek power and wealth, and yet others look to dominate for the sake of domination alone! At this very moment, in places a world apart, some madman is probably plotting to grab the whole enchilada through force of arms, terrorism, vested diplomacy, or even stealth and untruth. But what, pray tell, goes into the making of a world-class monster? Is it born bad, does it acquire madness through abuse, inbreeding, or even lust? ?Or are these creatures merely the product of their times??

Those who seek to dominate have come from all facets of existence. Some began quite modestly, while others were born to wealth, power, or position! Some sprung from deprivation, while others merely arrive at the right (or wrong) time and place in history! Adolf Hitler, for instance, was born in Austria in 1889 - the son of a customs official. During World War I, however, Hitler rose merely to the rank of Corporal in the German Army, but he also served as a political officer. Was it as a result of this politi-military exposure, and acting as a spy for the Huns in WWI, that he was drawn to a meeting of the fledgling ?German Workers Party?, presided over by a locksmith named Anton Drexler. Or was it when Hitler became politically involved that the world began to bleed under the Jackboots of horror, atrocity and morbid ambition!

Again, Hitler was not a new phenomenon - ?far from it in fact!? There was Alexander the Great, the Caesars, the bygone Kings of Europe, the Emperors and Khans of Asia, and even a Pope or two, all hell-bent on subjugating all that lay before them. And how many potential Napoleons, Tsars and Dictators, have also harbored the seeds of international conquest, by one means or another, physical or verbal? In today?s scheme of things, however, the most powerful weapon wielded by those who would rule supreme, is not the bow, the cannon, nor even the courageous foot soldier! It is the political agenda, and the multitudes that stand firm behind it!

Even if the most loving, brilliant or even fanatically crazed individual alive, were to burst forth upon the scene (and they often do), he (or she) would be nothing were it not for their ability to get inside the heads and hearts of those around them! It takes quite a gift of gab, after all, to convince millions of people to labor, fight and maybe even die to promote an idea, individual or political agenda (along with it?s inherent philosophy), good or bad, does it not? And if that philosophy just happens to be widely shared and accepted, well all the better for the individual with the mouth and the acting skills!

Not all world leaders (past, present or future too I fear) are totally noble creatures - not by any stretch of the imagination! And those who may be fairly decent to begin with, are usually tempest-tossed by absolute power, or totally screwed-up mentally, after the press grabs hold! Some of the biggest cads alive have been all but canonized by media sources that prey upon elements of society that hunger for heroes, or who are tired of any given status quo! For example, Ghengis Khan, Napoleon, Castro, Mao, Villa, Marcos, and even Noriega, were considered by some to be saviors or protectors, while at the same time, they were viewed by others as despots and maniacs of the first order! Yet were it not for the bankers, armies, and propagandists, that stood firmly behind these maniacs (opinion), they too might have garnered naught but a footnote on some dusty back page of a quickly forgotten volume of history!

Up until the twentieth century, we (United States) were the world?s upstarts, the distant contenders, and the laughing-stock of many an old global power-base. ?How dare we vie for world power, be it economic, political or military?? We did not have the ancient history, the biblical legacies, or the unquestionable might, or so the world thought? ?But alas, pride does goeth before a fall!?

We told no one how to live, how to conduct their internal affairs, or what mindset to embellish! We were far too busy creating a whole new set of rules, pushing back a vast wilderness, and modeling a lasting nation of doers and dreamers! The sad part of this, at least as far as the ?Worn-Thin, Old-World? was concerned, was that ?WE MADE IT WORK?, and when something works, you don?t fix it! Polish it and adjust it from time to time if you see fit (that is what democracy is all about), but do not adopt the iffy or totally unworkable over a proven system of sovereign government!

Granted, occurrences often dictate that we co-operate internationally, but what in the hell is wrong with being a country of individualists (unique one and all), gifting our nation with our individual skills and ideas! Only in George Orwell?s fertile imagination can a world of social clones exist, and ?in our differences, lies our strengths!?

When one does not challenge (within the laws of the land), parts of a system that he feels to be in error, or when that system flees from the control of the majority, or when one receives his marching orders from a foreign body, and that body selects your course and maybe even your leadership, then has not the matrix of a Big Brother been seeded?

This has indeed happened before to the Soviets, the German people, the Cubans, and even in the vast expanses of China, but thank God it could never happen here! After all, what is required to fall into just such a trap? The unification (under singular control) of all economic, political, police and military powers perhaps, even for an erstwhile cause? A weakening of one?s national sovereignty and laws maybe? Answerability to an outside Politi-$$-Military Body perhaps, or allegiance to an entity that feels more accountability to outside forces or pressures than to internal edicts?

Well again, not to worry, as this could never happen here! George Orwell was a talented fiction writer, the key word being ?FICTION!?

VERITAS

Talking Me thinkest you thinkest too much!

Must we think so much

Seriously!

From a psychological point of view.

Most of those folks who rise to power and contain within themselves the goal of world domination at any cost have been diagnosed as psychopaths by the psychologists and socipaths by sociologists. We ordinary people call them: Playground Bullies with no conscience.

Those Bullies often have a certain charisma that makes them attractive to the masses who will gladly follow this messiah. These Bullies often seem somewhat normal to their followers but to those who oppose them they are total tyrants. They become the center of their world as they conceive it. Anyway, many of the great leaders of the World have been sociopaths / psychopaths.

To Name a Few: Julius Ceasar, Herod the Great, Alexander the Great, Napolean, Ghengis Khan, and of course Hitler and Stalin.

These men are capable of great things, as well as great persecution and if they have any unusual psychological quirks they are magnified many times over, ie Nero.

I believe we have had a few Presidents of the United States who Had some Sociopathic tendancies {but I won't name names but they are members of both parties}. Fortunately we have a form of Government that doesn't lend itself well to sociopathic behavior. I will name one government official who definitely showed sociopathic tendancies - J. Edgar Hoover.

Big Brother with our checks and balances would be somewhat difficult but who knows what the future holds. Someday when the country is in really bad straights some charismatic leader may just come along and take all the power unto himself. I certainly hope not.
