101st Bans Jeraldo Rivera

It was reported yesterday evening the 101st Airborne banned Jeraldo Rivera from filming or interviewing their soldiers. He was purportedly filmed providing strategic information about an attack the 101st had been planning. He allegedly leaked information two hours before the mission took place.

I say send him home for jeaopardizing our mission(s) and our troops lives.

He's a righteous knuckle head..

Jeraldo is and always has been all about Jeraldo, facts or secrets be damned. He is nothing more than a self promoting entertainer and not a good one at that. And he's is certainly not a journalist or war correspondent.

Jerardo claims to be a ?lightening rod? in this episode and states he did nothing wrong. My take is that he was into ?theater? and doing his name recognition King?s X, I don?t follow rules deal. In my opinion, any field Commander has every right and responsibility to boot any media person out for any reason. Jerardo got across the 101St Commander?s third rail with his sand sketches and that?s it. It was a dumb thing to do at best, and a really arrogant and dangerous thing at worst.

You are sooo correct! He is out for self and his own personal gains. He didn't belong there but he wanted recognition. Well he got it and who ever he works for again they had better watch out for this ego trip he's on.

What he needs is a real job not all this gloy seeking he seems to grave. I've never liked him or his shows they were too much him and no substance.

My wife and I both agree the media needs to be pulled and handled with a little more discrete. I agree with many others who've commented that we don't need to see the dead to know people are dying. We don't need to see our soldier's praying for their dead - we already know they are that's enough!

What the 101st sgould have done is put that "egomaniac" in one of their uniforms, send him to the front, and let him "click his heels" three times, and see if it does anygood.

I see again this morning that Geraldo is still there say's he's an independent and that he will see us in Bagdad. Pentagon say's to get him out does that mean he will get an escort?

I'd get the MP's to night-stickem and haul him out. This guy has no concept of what's he's doiing. He's now going to cause someones life just try to catch this guy.

FOX should fire him and he should be banned from any news or TV media centers for 10 years or more. Maybe he can get a job with Arnet?

I agree with you and your wife also.

Karen and I both keep saying to get the press out of there.

They are giving away to much very important and critical information, let alone the words and pictures they show of VERY personal lives of the ones there and their loved ones.

I just pray this aint gonna be another Nam.......,,,,,,, but with this instant access to the war it could very well be.........

One souldier said this morn on the news that it should have been over with by now, but the press was there and screwed it all up...

War Correspondents only allowed, but with the stipulation that it wont be aired on the same day.

It will never be another VN - 12 years that conflict went on and there will never be another like it. Like this conflict - they are all different.

These troops will all come back home and we will have another bunch of VETS who can relate to the issues we've been discussing.

Each conflict is different in many way except one - people die and get injured that is the common denominator in all conflicts. It's to be expected and everyone knows it.

Was has me a little taken back is this quick war scenario? I've never heard of anything so stupic in my entire life. How can you take a entire country in days? It's unheard of and has no merit or for a better word are people crazy?

What's it been 13 days maybe give or take. My God who ever came up with the short war theory? How did anyone every believe this could be won in a few weeks? Who started all this timetable BS?

If it takes 90 days we'd be awful lucky. I feel it will be more like 90-180 days (and this is still hard to believe) and another 2-3 years to re-organize the country.

I also wonder why provisions have been made for relief? When will rotation begin? Who will they bring in and who do we have left (fresh troops)? How many will be going back after leave?

This conflict is far from over. We've made significant progress and it amazes me how critical everyone is that it isn't over yet! Crazy world!!
