Gimpy ...have you thought of this...
I would like to know if the principal veterans organizations ( VFW, American Legion, DAV, V V A, and others ) have ever considered pooling their resources and creating media ( TV, radio, print ) advertisements to highlite the plight of veterans in the VA health care system, the con-current pension debacle and all the other concerns ?? As long as they have us divided ( Dems VS. Repubs ) they don't have to do shit...but if we went over there heads to the public, things might change for the better...something needs to be done quickly....there are only about 22,000,000 or thereabouts vets left, and aging, out of a population of nearly 300,000,000 and we are rapidly becoming a very small minority..
the Baby Boomer population will start hitting the first year of eligibility for Social In-security in 2008 ( and many of them avoided service in VN and could care less about us ) and after that who know what the hell will really happen... Just an idea...nothing else seems to be working now.... Just imagine if the great articles that were in the American Legion magazine a few months ago about the obscene waits for medical care at the VA were hammered home in all three media like they sell soft drinks and hamburgers ( Take the new Fanta ads for example ).....it sure as hell couldn't hurt...I could design some real beauties.....meld the website that the drifter put up about not forgetting 9/11 with video / audio of vets from WW2 / Korea / VN / Desert Storm and their treatment afterwards...could call it Operation Shame..... I think it is a great idea but no doubt these agencies have their proverbial hands tied by the military because such ads/reports would undoubtedly hamper the recruiting effort.

David : You put your finger right on the problem....it is called divide, fragment, conquer, and remain blameless......our "representatives" in Congress have this down to a perfect science...

Dude,
I'm with you 100%, but I have to agree with David, it's gonna be awfully hard to convince SOME publications to run this "ad campaign" without a lot of $$$$$$ and a lot of resistance from the military service branches themselves!

Gimpy :
It is the only way to do it...If we all stay divided they will run over us and we will all be flattened out like roadkill after an 18 wheeler runs over it...trust me. Larry
