Exclamation Nothing New

In News Conference #8, President Bush (in my opinion) merely rehashed the samo-samo! It was also reported that by this time in the Clinton Administration, some 33 such conferences had been conducted, probably also redundant in many aspects! Politicians are, after all, quite adroit at saying a great deal about nothing!

Outside of the obvious, that being that ?The people of the United States are extremely proud of our military (AND THAT?S A FACT), the President did (if but a surface scraping) manage to touch upon the economy (for what ever this light dusting was worth)?

?HIS ECONOMIC THRUST WENT AS FOLLOWED:?

A- Reduced Income tax rates
B- Need for an energy bill
C- Legal Reforms, and with them, fewer frivolous law suits (Who decides what is frivolous)
D- Child Credits
E- Drug Coverage for the elderly, and of course, the true key to a turn about - JOBS

(nothing really new here, and little yet done opinion)

?Splendid rhetoric though, but to now, still nothing more than just that - rhetoric (or a wish list if you prefer!??

On the terrorism front, the President warned that, although no specific data is in hand, terrorism this summer (Hijackings) could increase, and that he felt that the Baathist Party of Iraq is now pretty much under control? ?Is that so?!?

The current approach to curtailing terrorism has not garnered the awe-inspiring results that was anticipated, and this would not be Daddy?s roll over of Kuwait!! Nor is this an enemy that always does or reacts as expected! And if you can recall, many in government were expecting Coalition Forces to be greeted with open arms, and for the most part, this never came to pass! ?This isn?t Paris, and it ain?t 1944?, and our military planners apparently know everything in theory, and precious damned little in street facts! (opinion)

It is my opinion (unfortunately) that our current administration is playing it by ear More defensive that aggressive)! And that at this, at a point in time, they really are at a loss for a workable solution to end this Middle Eastern mess!

And when we finally do leave this region, how long will it be before the same neo Attila or Darius, or even some new (unknown) bastard with illusions of grandeur) moves in to capitalize on the void left by our departure! Or are we planning on maintaining an armed force in Iraq indefinitely. ?A force of occupation!?

Ya know, try as some might, you ain?t never going to Americanize some nations who refuse to walk the walk. Take our money they will, take our blood they will, take our recourses they will, but adopt our way of life - THEY WILL NEVER! It didn?t happen in Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan, Korea and half the world. And unless President Bush has some sort of magic bullet, and he does not, the end will be the same as it was in Somalia and Vietnam. The locals and our own government will get tired of all of the blood and BS going nowhere, we will say screw you, and eventually cut our losses!

?It is our true policy to steer clear of permanent alliance with any portion of the foreign world!? George Washington - 1796)

Hey, no one on the planet can compete with us in a stand up war, and the stand up war that Great Britain attempted back in 1776, got their flaming red asses tossed back into the Atlantic some 220 years ago! ?Wars have changed since 1945 (however) - And it is indeed a pity that out political mentality has not!!? (opinion)

1) Electoral College

2) Gerrymandering

3) Closed Primaries

Stop those and we have got a chance to restore our Republic... won't matter who the president is or which the party in power.
