![]() I dunno reeb, I think it can be caused by many things. I think most of it comes from the way your raised. It seems these day to many parents let the tv be the baby sitter and never take responsibility for there OWN actions in parenthood.
I think to that it could be in the chemical makeup in your brain. Never know. |

![]() With the high cost of living, households require two parents working. I for one know how tough it is to be both dad and mom. I have two well adjusted children. One is an adult in his first year of college. The other is in jr. high. They both are soft spoken, sensitive, hard charging, respectful, and morally sound. I cannot take all of the credit for these two beautiful boys. My parents, their teachers and my wonderful friends all have contributed to their upbringing.
One of dear friends is from Cameroon. Africa. He told me the entire village raises their children. He and his 8 sisters have all graduated from college. They are all professionals ie., lawyers, doctors, physical therapist and etc.. I think a parent or parents should involve their kids in sports, music, theatre, arts, reading and community service. If they are involved in activities, they are less likely to get into trouble and will become well rounded children. just my two cents... |

![]() I find the talk of violence in the USA somewhat problematic..
A direct correlation can be made to recidivism .. or folks going to jail at the city, county, state, or federal level doing the time and going right back for similar or worse crimes... The parole, judicial, prison, and attendant bureacracy, bear an overwhelming responsibility by sending the message loud and clear ...for example..."we are giving you 32 years in prison, but you will be eligible for parole in 5, and since we are over-crowded you may get out in 3, and you can serve all 3 sentences concurrently and due to time served.. etc. etc. "...this is happening all over the USA.... Just my opinion, Larry

![]() Mort,
You're absolutely right. Would you agree if prisoner's were sentenced to hard labor camps, it may detour people from commiting further crimes? It seems the prisoners have it too easy. They watch TV, lift weights, 3 hot meals, warm bed to sleep in. They have it better than the homeless walking our streets. ![]() By the way, welcome back. Glad you're here. ![]() |

![]() The "criminal-farcical-justice" system in our area is so bad that now I just skip anything in the paper or on TV about sentencing, rap sheets, previous crimes, criminal records, plea bargains...because it just gets my blood-boiling...I made the mistake this morning of reading an article about a near child-molester and the judicial-B.S. involved and I just got sick. I may post it later.
Larry

Ex-teacher gets 9 years in prison for child porn By Lawrence Buser Contact December 2, 2003 A former elementary school teacher was sentenced to nine years in federal prison Monday for what he called his "irrational and sick" obsession with child pornography. Daniel Kyle Pond, 33, of Franklin, Tenn., told U.S. Dist. Court Judge Bernice Donald he constantly upgraded to faster computers, shunned friends and skipped sleep to feed his Internet-fueled obsession. "I would seek all the pornography that was available to me," said Pond, who earlier this year pleaded guilty to a 10-count indictment on child pornography and related charges. "My actions became more and more obsessive. When I got home I was in front of the computer. I knew it was wrong, but I kept going, even though I knew one day I would be caught." Pond's interest didn't stop at the computer. He was arrested May 29 last year in Greenwood, Miss., where he had gone to obtain two children to either molest or kill, FBI agents said. A Memphis woman who went with him had alerted authorities and was in on the sting that led to his arrest. Pond moved to Memphis four months earlier to enter a treatment program after being charged in Williamson County with transportation and possession of child pornography. He said Monday he soon quit the program and instead spent his time drinking, casino gambling and surfing the Internet from his apartment on Adams near downtown. "I want to apologize to this court and society for my crimes," Pond said. "Nothing can make up for what I did. I'm willing to help prosecutors fight this crime. I am determined to make something good come out of this." Pond has since pleaded guilty to the Williamson County charges and was sentenced to 32 years in state prison. He'll be eligible for parole by 2013. Donald praised Pond for his contrition but sentenced him to the maximum of nine years - he could have received just over seven - because of his expressed violence toward children. Pond will serve his time in federal prison first, which also will count toward his state sentence. There is no parole in the federal system.

![]() At one time in this life I would have sworn to abhor violence... and then things happened, I grew older... I saddened when learning that violence is useful, somewhat controllable but not always... and that is when people get hurt and stuff gets broken... it's just inevitable... maybe war is a way of giving vent to violence so that it doesn't kill everything?

![]() I think its a pressure thing - being able to cope - the inability to look the other way - the way you were raised - not being told I Love You by those who mean the most to you. Not being in control of yourself or being influenced by others.
Violence is the culmination of certain events that for one reason or another causes one to loose reality. Something snaps that takes you out of the norm - its a deep seeded anger - its something I've felt only twice in my life. It's all of the above and more but it's in the human geneo and we all have to deal with it at one time or another. Many things can push one over the edge and into this type of condition. Let's hope this is only a passing event because total violence is destructive and can only result in more pain and more suffering.
