![]() Confession Time: I tried, I really tried, but after listening to about 30 minutes of insanity, I realized that I'd have more fun if I squeezed my head in a vise. The absolute prize was Kucinich, whom, I've learned was the reason why the Communist Party USA is not offering a candidate this year. I guess he's the 2004 answer to the Lyndon LaRouche of years past!

New Willie Nelson Song Condemns War in Iraq Wed December 31, 2003 08:38 PM ET DALLAS (Reuters) - Country music icon Willie Nelson has written a Christmas song with an edge -- a protest against the war in Iraq that he hopes will stir passions in those who hear it. Nelson, 70, told Reuters on Wednesday he wrote "Whatever Happened to Peace on Earth" after watching the news on Christmas Day and will play it in Austin, Texas on Saturday at a concert to benefit Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich. His rare foray into protest music -- he said it was only the second such song he had written, after the Vietnam-era "Jimmy's Road" -- follows recent political controversies stirred by the Dixie Chicks and Steve Earle. The Dixie Chicks, one of the biggest acts in country music, had their music boycotted by some country stations after lead singer Natalie Mains said at a concert in London just before the invasion of Iraq that she was embarrassed to be from the same state as President Bush. Last year Steve Earle sparked the ire of conservatives with his song "John Walker's Blues" about the young American who converted to Islam was captured while fighting alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan. Nelson said his new song criticized the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq and those who thought it unpatriotic to speak out against the war. The song opens with the line "How much oil is one human life worth?" and swings into the chorus: "Hell they won't lie to me/ Not on my own damn TV/ But how much is a liar's word worth/ And whatever happened to peace on earth?" "I hope that there is some controversy," said the country singer, who has five nominations in the upcoming Grammy Awards. "If you write something like this and nobody says anything, then you probably haven't struck a nerve. "I got it out of my system. I was able to say what I was thinking," Nelson said. David Swanson, a spokesman for the Kucinich campaign, said the candidate was a Willie Nelson fan and the song resonated with themes raised by Kucinich on the stump. "This is a patriotic song," Swanson said. Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq in March saying that Saddam Hussein threatened U.S. security by possessing weapons of mass destruction, but no such weapons were found. ? Reuters 2004. ![]() The lyrics (in case you were wondering):
There's so many things going on in the world Babies dying Mothers crying How much oil is one human life worth And what ever happened to peace on earth We believe everything that they tell us They're gonna' kill us So we gotta' kill them first But I remember a commandment Thou shall not kill How much is that soldier's life worth And whatever happened to peace on earth (Bridge) And the bewildered herd is still believing Everything we've been told from our birth Hell they won't lie to me Not on my own damn TV But how much is a liar's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth So I guess it's just Do unto others before they do it to you Let's just kill em' all and let God sort em' out Is this what God wants us to do (Repeat Bridge) And the bewildered herd is still believing Everything we've been told from our birth Hell they won't lie to me Not on my own damn TV But how much is a liar's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth Now you probably won't hear this on your radio Probably not on your local TV But if there's a time, and if you're ever so inclined You can always hear it from me How much is one picker's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth But don't confuse caring for weakness You can't put that label on me The truth is my weapon of mass protection And I believe truth sets you free (Bridge) And the bewildered herd is still believing Everything we've been told from our birth Hell they won't lie to me Not on my own damn TV But how much is a liar's word worth And whatever happened to peace on earth http://www.counterpunch.org/nelson12302003.html

![]() For many people around here, now former Willie Nelson fans, they're looking at him as a man who tap danced on his doo-whacky with track shoes. Don't look for a sell-out crowd at Willie's next concert, or think that he won't be remembered like the Dixie Chicks. And before anybody goes looking for lynching rope, thinking I'm denying Willie the 1st Amendment rights, I 'm not, but am wondering where was all his whining protest when the slaughtering was happening in Iraq by SH.
Kucinich is as irrelevant as yesterday's used toilet paper. In fact, that could probably be said about most of the remaining Dwarfs.

When I see Kucinich the first thing I think of is ?Kachink?. This is the sound of a coin hitting the bottom of a slot machine with no payout. Willie Nelson has been one of my favorite C&W singers for-ever. I think he?s suffering from ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE. In my eye?s he?s always been a fighter. Why he chose this new road to go down, I couldn?t say. Remember how Dean Martin was spitting on his fans and throwing cigarette butts at them during his final stages of the disease? He wasn?t responsible for his actions. The people forgave him Knowing Willie the way I do, I don?t think he?s fully conscious of what he?s doing and how his actions are relating to his fans. The Dixie Chick?s, well? there you go. I say to Hades with them. "John Walker's Blues", Had they shot John Walker on the spot this wouldn?t be an issue. Remember the guy throwing the grenade into the midst of his fellow soldiers? Why isn?t he in Cuba? You don?t hear about him anymore. Wayward Religion is killing us. Somewhere, there's a snake in the woodpile. I?m anxious to see where all this goes. Regards, Travis ![]() |

![]() Enjoyed your comments! Some of Willie's fan will forgive him for his little whacky outburst, but some of the bloom has long gone from his rose. Could be all that booze and weed - and believe me, it was bunches! - is showing up in his self-destructive behavior. It still amazes me how anybody could take Ka-Chink/Ker-Pluck seriously.
The Muslim terrorist, aka as a US soldier, is in pre-trial confinement Stateside; if he hasn't been adjudged already, I hope they give him the death sentence. He should have been shot and helped us avoid the cost of trying and incarceration his worthless ass; I despise traitors with a passion I normally reserve for rabid dogs and trial lawyers. ![]()
