What date did Army Air Corp. change to Air Force ?
At start of WW 2 were Army Air Corp.

In 1947 not sure of the exact date but it was in conjuction with the Wars Powers Act of 1947.

The War Powers Act was the place to go.
1926 was Army Air Corp.
1941 was Army Air Force

MarineAO and cadetat6,

August 1, 1907 - an Aeronautical Division is added to the US Army
Signal Corps

August 2, 1909 - Army buys its first airplane from Orville Wright

March 5, 1913 - 1st Provisional Aero Squadron organized

July 18, 1914 - Army Aviation Section (including observation
balloons and dirigibles) organized

May 24, 1918 - Army Air Service becomes seperate agency but
still attached to Army

1926 - Army Air Service re-named as Army Air Corps

March 9, 1942 - Army Air Force becomes an autonomous service

July 26, 1927 - National Security Act creates the United States
Air Force

Default MarineAO-- Very close

On September 19, 1947 the United Sates Air Force was established with it's own identity. Army Air Force bases were renamed Air Force bases, and personnel was issued new uniforms.

And December 1982 The Air Force was graced with my presence.
Actually started BT with the first female class of 1983 WO001 in 3711th BMTS.
I still remember our motto.
"Discipline instills morale."
