Please tell your bro.that we return his love and appriciation with interest. Also our respect and best wishes. And that he is in our thoughts and prayers.
Sis,I have no doubt that what you say about the nurses being overworked is correct.Staff costs money in the form of saleries.Paper pushers like to save money.Less staff=lower quality and quantity of pt. care. Also results in a lot of pissed off patients, family,AND nurses-and rightfully so.I hope that you are wrong about the nurses not being willing to rock the boat. Both by honor and by law a nurses' first responsibility is to the patient. That responsibility comes before their responsibility for their own well being or their duty to their employer. If patient care is suffering due to understaffing it is their duty to report it and to KEEP reporting and bitchin an moaning until a change is made or they get fired.BTDT.Sometimes reports from outside the staff are helpful.Sometimes not. If you say nothing that's what will change.Nothing. |

Sis
All the best to your bro, his family, which of course means you.
Forgive me for being dumb but if there are plenty of nurses on one floor and not enough on another floor couldn't they re-assign some of the employee's? A good friend of mine found a similar situation at the VA hospital in Leeds Ma. He sent a letter to our congressman inviting him to visit the hospital within 30 days and sent a copy of the letter to the hospital. He suggested the congressman's visit be unannounced. It was amazing, the "warehoused patients" suddenly started getting better care. How every odd. Good luck, hope things get better for all those vets. Stay healthy, Andy |
