Default a soldiers wish

One soldiers wish

The one thing that troubles me to this day , is that I didn?t have ? THAT ?picture to tack on the barracks wall. You

Know; the one you stared at during those lonely times.

I knew this girl, who lived two doors from me. One day

when we were around 15 or so, she mentioned this song

and mentioned that she sure wished she knew the words

to it . So what did chuckie do; I went down to the record store and bought a copy of ? SKYLARK ?, and spent hours replaying it till I had all the words written down. The next day ,I gave it to her and wished I hadn?t. She said ? GEE,

MY BOYFRIEND WILL LOVE THIS,---THANKS?

That cooled it till I enlisted and was ready to go in.In the

Meantime she broke up with HIM, and gave me a picture

Of her. I never did tack it on the wall. After I was out of the

Service a while, My loving sister, told this girl she worked with, that she had a brother and that she thought the two of us would be good for each other. Now I learned later that she always told her girlfriends that if she ever got married,

It would be to a ?Tall, Dark, And Handsome Type. Well,

We had our blind date.On our fourth date I proposed on Christmas Eve and were married in May. The happiest days of my life. Two years ago she went to her final rest.Today is our anniversary, and I didn?t want to go to church, but I was to usher and have missed too many days . I got through it okay, but after I returned home and turned on the radio,

The song that was playing? ? I WALK ALONE?

Her poem will sustain me til we meet again

Just because your'e fifty

Don't think that you are old,

Cause you are still my happiness

No matter what the years enfold.

So let's be happy , glad, and gay,

And have a real nice day.

We'll be each others future,

In every single way.

I love when you come to me.

And when you step through our door,

I see your face and always know,

Your'e the guy that I adore

My love always,Flo

There are no words at a time such as this that are ?Right? or ?Comforting? or that can make it better for you. I will not tell you that time will make it better. It will not!
How-ever the passing of time will make it easier to accept and cope with.
God knows best in all things no matter the hurt or not under-standing

Art

Thanks for the thoughtful words Art. Your a Good friend. If you don't mind, I would like to say a few words to others out there
about caring.
Art and I worked on the same equipment at work. We handled the beeper on alternate weekends. Whenever either of us needed help or a logic board, all we had to do was call the other and without fail I or HE would be there. I must admit, I needed him the most. There came a time when retirement packages were offered, for reasons of downsizing, and who could refuse. Art would drop in at our house and spend a while while his wife Mickey was having her hair done. Then ,oneday while ckecking the obits, I saw that Mickey had passed on.My wife Flo and I went
to pay our last respects and talked a while. To my lasting shame, we went home and I let it slip into history.
On the following May , MY wife passed on, and only then did I realize the pain Art must be going through. I called, we had a long talk and I asked if I could come over. We have been going to each others homes for two years now; remembering our missing wives, going over our computer finds & faults, and going out to breakfast or lunch. The talks we have about little things we did with Mickey & Flo help us to cope. And tears are no embaress-
ment.
To me; The loss of your spouse is the end of a life; now you must begin another.
Treat your other with kindnees and attention, because tomorrow, you may need all those little memories to last you the rest of your
existance.
Sure glad I made that call!!!

Thumbs up

God bless both of you. Your example has set the bar pretty high but all I can do is try. I will remember your stories and advice. Thank you.
