This is NOT a denial!! This is spin!! The Media wants to take this as Bush ?firing back? but if so its as weenie an effort as his military service was!! The first chance Georgie has to get out front on the Killian papers and is this a blanket denial?? No it is not, it is a very coded message saying Its all going to come out and I want to be on record as saying the papers SHOULD be investigated so everybody will think I?m brave and honest and coming out and telling the truth after looking at those papers for 2 weeks.. That?s Gentleman Georgie trying to weasel out of trouble again. Remember Marian Knox saying he was such a gentleman? Well that?s the exact SAME thing the cop who arrested him on his DUI said !! And there won?t BE a denial!!! If Bush was going to deny the Killian documents are real, it would have come out long ago and it would look a whole lot different than this.

More spin. I think all the stuff about Bill Burkett and the Kinko?s stamp are false leads to take the heat off the real source. Whoever is the source of those documents is a marked person?they can count on daily death threats for the rest of their lives. We all know how conservatives do like to vent their anger.
My current favorite for the Deep Throat is the secretary. She was there at the right time and place, knew everything. I think she supplied CBS with the documents or at least was the major verifier. That hokum about ?She flew to New York to straighten Rather out!? was more false leads. They want to establish her as outside of them, most probably for her own protection.
The CBS play of her was masterful?they made it look like she was contradicting them when she was really there to make several points?There was 2 sets of books. Bush DID get an order to take his physical which he refused to do and Killian was pissed. Killian WAS keeping a CYA file. Bush WASN?T there all the time. Rather went to great lengths to make the point that she had typed up papers with the SAME information. Why would someone forge something with the same information as the real thing in this case? Sounds to me like they were keeping 2 sets of books?which she would know--and Rather was setting up that point.
What they did was establish her as a credible witness. Why she even said Rathers documents are false. FALSE!! But not forged. : (you can see this video on cbsnews.com, I played it though 6 times) She said it herself right at the end: the story is about Bush and his campaign to get to Alabama. I think putting her on was a sign to the White House they have her on their side. They made her look like a credible witness. If she had shitcanned their story they?d have made her look like senile ol Granny Snerd with her finger up her nose. If they had portrayed her as on their side or originator of the documents she?d be dead. They probably worked it out with Burkett to take the heat off her. The more that points to him, the farther away the real Deep Throat. Anybody that doesn?t understand this right away ahouldn?t have commanded a fire team in Vietnam.

I love this one: Asked about Killian's statement in a memo about the military's investment in Bush, Bartlett told CBS: "For anybody to try to interpret or presume they know what somebody who is now dead was thinking in any of these memos, I think is very difficult to do."
What does Bush say about it? He was there. Anybody who doesn?t understand what Killian meant has no idea of patriotism.
I mean that?s the purpose of a written language, isn?t it? That?s why Killian wrote it and then filed it away.

BTW: has anybody ever seen a copy of TJ Kerry's Honorable Discharge? Did he ever have the cajones to sign a Form 180, authorizing release of his military records? Did anybody ever see where and when and if TJ Kerry fulfilled his reserve obligation, after he signed and swore to fulfill said obligations? Let's review the time-line:
Feb. 1966 - he signed a 6-year contract, and after commissioning, the contract was revised to read 5 years active duty, and 1 year inactive standby reserve.
Jan. 1970 - Kerry is released from active duty after serving only 3 years and 18 days, with an ongoing obligation of 48 drills per year, and not more than 17 active duty for training per year. None of this training was ever accomplished, making Kerry AWOL.
While still a commissioned officer (although not acting like one), Kerry makes repeated trips to Paris, to consult with the Vietnamese communists, our enemy at the time.

As to the ?content being right?, well, whatever. Tiz the snared heal hound syndrome where the head heal hound gets caught with yoke, shell bits and feathers all over his muzzle and gets to hollering about the culpability of the henhouse, etc., etc. A mighty big ego and professional credibility are on the line so he can?t and won?t just shut up and stop digging his own hole.

And it could be that there is a grain of truth in all the allegations. I like the Cast Iron Skillet referance in both post thanks that lifted the spirits and brought a BIG grin
