TELEVISION
TV Group to Show Anti- Kerry Film on 62 Stations
By JIM RUTENBERG

Up to 62 television stations owned or managed by the Sinclair Broadcasting Group - many of them in swing states - will show a documentary highly critical of Senator John Kerry's antiwar activities 30 years ago within the next two weeks, Sinclair officials said yesterday.

Those officials said the documentary would pre-empt regular night programming, including prime time, on its stations, which include affiliates for all six of the major broadcast networks in the swing states of Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

Called "Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal," the documentary features Vietnam veterans who say their Vietnamese captors used Mr. Kerry's 1971 Senate testimony, in which he recounted stories of American atrocities, prolonging their torture and betraying and demoralizing them. Similar claims were made by prisoners of war in a commercial that ran during the summer from an anti-Kerry veterans group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Two of the former prisoners who appeared in the Swift Boat advertisement were interviewed for the movie, including Ken Cordier, who had to resign as a volunteer in the Bush campaign after the advertisement came out.

Sinclair's plan to show the documentary was first made public by The Los Angeles Times on Saturday.

Mark Hyman, Sinclair's vice president for corporate relations, who doubles as a conservative commentator on its news stations, said the film would be shown because Sinclair deemed it newsworthy.

"Clearly John Kerry has made his Vietnam service the foundation of his presidential run; this is an issue that is certainly topical," he said. Asked what defined something as newsworthy, Mr. Hyman said, "In that it hasn't been out in the marketplace, and the news marketplace."

Because Sinclair is defining the documentary - which will run commercial free - as news, it is unclear if it will be required by federal regulations to provide Mr. Kerry's campaign with equal time to respond.

But acknowledging that news standards call for fairness, Mr. Hyman said an invitation has been extended to Mr. Kerry to respond after the documentary is shown. "There are certainly serious allegations that are leveled; we would very much like to get his response," he said.

Asked if Sinclair would consider running a documentary of similar length either lauding Mr. Kerry, responding to the charges in "Stolen Honor" or criticizing Mr. Bush, Mr. Hyman said, "We'd just have to take a look at it."

Aides to Mr. Kerry said he would not accept Sinclair's invitation.

"It's hard to take an offer seriously from a group that is hellbent on doing anything to help elect President Bush even if that means violating basic journalism standards," said Chad Clanton, a Kerry spokesman.

Sinclair's plans put Mr. Kerry's campaign in an awkward position similar to the one in which it found itself in August, when the Swift Boat group first began running commercials against him containing unsubstantiated charges that he lied to get his war medals. Mr. Kerry's aides at first held back from responding, so as not to give the group and its charges more attention - a decision that some Kerry aides now acknowledge cost him in public opinion polls.

Mr. Clanton said Mr. Kerry's campaign would call on supporters to stage advertiser boycotts and demonstrations against Sinclair's stations.

A group of Democratic senators, including Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Dianne Feinstein of California, readied a letter calling for the Federal Communications Commission to investigate the move, arguing that the documentary was not news but a prolonged political advertisement from Mr. Bush and, as such, violated fairness rules.

Andrew Jay Schwartzman, president of the Media Access Project, an advocacy group promoting greater media regulation, said he did not think the film would qualify for a news exemption. And, he said, even if it did fall under equal time provisions, those are based on candidate appearances and in this case, since it is Mr. Kerry who appears, "albeit disparagingly," stations would be required to show Mr. Bush or possibly the independent candidate Ralph Nader, if they requested it.

Sinclair was already a galvanizing force for Democrats. The political donations of its executives have gone overwhelmingly to Republicans, according to a review of donations on Politicalmoneyline.com. In April Sinclair refused to run an episode of "Nightline" on its stations in which the anchor Ted Koppel spent the entire program reading the names of American soldiers killed in Iraq.

"Stolen Honor" was produced by Carlton Sherwood, formerly a reporter with The Washington Times. His Web site says he received no money from any political party or campaign but got initial funding from Pennsylvania veterans.

The documentary has been distributed by mail order and via streaming Internet connections. Mr. Hyman said Sinclair was not paying for the right to broadcast it.

ALWAYS GLAD seeing when Honorable Veterans aren't cowering and in awe and speak right-up or expose ANY foul and purposefully deceptive lies perpetrated on The People, by ANY pompously-lordly politicians. Still, isn't such what all TRULY Honorable Veterans should normally be doing, anyway? You know,...that: "Duty, Honor, Country" bit?

Regardless, I wish you (OR ANYONE) could explain to me why The Republicans are always distancing themselves from The Swiftboater Ads and/or probably the only TRULY HONEST (documented and verified) political ads of this entire campaign?

Does the entire Republican hierarchy actually believe The DNC Pompous Demands that such rare Truths in Advertising as The Swiftboaters produce, are actually: "Viciously-Dirty campaigning"...and must be censored or kept from: "We The People"? Absolute utter DNC NONSENSE!!!

Hey, if the religiously faithful Dems/Libs/Socialist Followers and/or entire Fonda/Clinton/Kerry Party want to herdlike believe such lordly dribble,...who cares. "They" MUST, or be shunned from the fanatically obedient DNC Religion.

However, when differently Free American Republicans or Independents are similarly cowered by such politically dictatorial nonsense,..."Such" then just becomes plain stupid or self-defeating (at best). Wimping-out or caving-in to Democrat Zealot Demands will never make any sense to me.

Besides, don't Republicans REALLY want to win or retain their positions? Republicans should spend more time on The Truth Bandwagon,...and much less time on The Political One. LOTS OF AMERICANS are depending and counting on "Them", and especially during wartime. Let foreign nations take care of their own constituants' or nationals' needs, wants or desires,...FOR-A-CHANGE.

This is something that should anger democrats as well as republicans or for that matter any American and especially one one says they are a Vietnam Veteran.. I can't see how anyone with a clear conscious could support this evil person. I refuse to call him a man. He is everything I was taught I man is not in life. I will let a child of a Vietnam Veteran tell you her feelings about war protester Kerry :
Kerry smeared a hero: my dad.

By CAROL CROWLEY Published on: 09/20/04

Many of you believe dirty politics is the motivation of Vietnam veterans speaking out in opposition to John Kerry. Let me tell you the real motivation.

In the movie "We Were Soldiers," the story about the battle of the la Drang Valley in Vietnam in 1965, a young sergeant, Jack Gell, cried as he died, "Tell my wife I love her . . ." and my family relived the death of my dad. He told my mother in letters that he and those he served with believed they were doing the right thing, fighting to help a sovereign nation defend its freedom.

Before the movie was filmed, I heard my father's dying words from retired Lt Gen. Hal Moore and journalist Joe Galloway, who were with him in the Valley of Death. I met Mel Gibson, who played Col. Moore in the movie, showing him family pictures and letters to help him learn the essence of these young men serving their country in a difficult time. Gibson said my father was a true hero.

I remember when the movie was released witnessing the healing of men and family members who clung to this story with a new pride after decades of being vilified. Finally, they talked about it. Finally, many were proud to be Vietnam veterans.

And then Kerry was nominated as a presidential candidate.

I don't blame Kerry for my father's death, and I don't much care if he shamelessly chased after medals. But I do care that when he returned from Vietnam he gave aid and comfort to the enemy while our soldiers were still dying. I care that he smeared my father and a generation of our armed forces

with false charges of war crimes while posing himself as a hero. I care that Kerry's false charges encouraged our enemy who was pressuring our POWs in inhumane ways to confess to imaginary war crimes. I care that he went to Paris to meet with the Viet Cong in 1970 while still an officer in the Navy Reserve, returning to publicly advocate for their position and against America's position.

This isn't about politics. It's about honor and betrayal and protecting our country. And for me it is deeply personal, as it is for countless vets. Thirty-nine years later, my mother still cries on Nov 14. Thirty-nine years later, we miss my father every day. Thirty-nine years later, Kerry poses as a hero. As children of Vietnam veterans, many of us feel an unwelcome emotional strain as the arguments about what really happened in Vietnam are tugged back and forth, often by people who were not there. We deeply resent the suggestion that our fathers were war criminals as that theme inevitably seeps into the argument.

We are educated and grown. We have children of our own, some in the service. We know in our heart and soul the scars of war that will never go away. But we are not weak, and we will not be silent. I will stand with the Vietnam veterans who speak out, and the voice of my father will be heard through me.

As long as I have breath and Kerry seeks the office of president, I will speak out against him. Others like me are too many to count.

While we are dismissed as dirty politics, the truth is we would be doing the very same things if Kerry were a Republican. President Bush has never had anything to do with our opposition to Kerry, and if the president makes a personal appeal to us to stop, we cannot and will not do so, because there are some things that can never be forgiven, can never be forgotten. John Kerry is one of those things.

Default Well Neil.....

A Kerry Champaign spokesperson is now threatening retaliation against those who speak out against Kerry. This retaliation is supposed to come in a post election scenario of some kind, but unspecified at this time. One can only guess at what and whom this retaliation will include but it?s on the board now as a promise and threat.
Non-Kerry compliant media, Veterans groups and presumably individual Veterans will be Kerry?s selected ten-ring targets, perhaps. Maybe the spokesperson was just blow-holeing and posturing for the audience but some of those in the perceived ten-ring are already firing back, in an ?in-your-face?, posture and safety-wired in the pissed-off position. Tiz a real no-good situation a brewing and reminiscent of activities of a group called the ?SA? of long ago.

Regarding all political scum like those having GREATLY American Blood Stained Hands such as Fonda, Clinton and KERRY (all GREATLY responsible for extending The Vietnam War and GREATLY responsible for MANY MORE American Casualties than should ever have been),...I say: "Screw-em all but nine". In essence, Men of Honor ONLY requiring: "Six Pallbearers, Two Road Guards, and A Guidon Bearer". No career political zealots required before or after life.

Besides, and if this is still America, I don't think that even the mighty DNC lords can dictate that their gods must be given preferrential treatment, and that any truths about The Pompous One and his pompously self righteous clique,...must be kept from: "We The People"?

Besides, if it was perfectly alright for months on end to undermine America's War Effort to Our Troops, Allies and all World Leaders, by despicably, repeatedly and over and over and over calling Our War Time Commander-In-Chief: "A LIAR",...what's-the-big-deal about NOW calling The ACTUAL & REAL LIARS like Kerry: "Typically lying and foreigner favoring ABOVE ALL ELSE Democrats/Liberals/Socialists/Leftists" or "The end justifies the means crowd"?? All stated is true.

Has the standard American Press/Media DOUBLE-STANDARD favoring: "Their Darlings",...also taken over America's Courts?
I don't think so.

. THERE ARE A COUPLE OF INTERESTING ARTICLES HERE THAT EVERYONE SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF. PLEASE PASS THIS AROUND IT IS IMPORTANT, OUR LIVES ARE AT STAKE HERE.

JDS

Here is information that helps me decide to vote to re-elect George Bush.

WE CAN'T AFFORD KERRY!

I didn't think of this, but everyone should.....Most of us haven't thought about this no matter how much we like or dislike John Kerry. WOW! Those figures have to be staggering. You will pay upkeep/Secret Service for 5 Kerry mansions. It is good to be John F.Kerry....... The F stands for Forbes in case you ever wondered. (I didn't know that either). He is one of the richest Senators in Government. When someone is elected president, it means the Secret Service has to protect the President and his family as well as his property. The Kerry's have five US properties not counting the several foreign properties they own too. The cost to run these homes are more than what the average American could afford, even if the rent was free, and all you had to pay the water, gas & electric. Including groundkeepers, maintenance, pool, and housekeepers.

To be President would require the taxpayers to pay for all that now if elected. Including a complete staffed Secret Service security 24 hours a day. In addition to that we will have to pay for each of their homes for security improvements even if they never go to them all, that is, that just in case. Who do you think will pay for all this? We Pay! This takes all the expense off Kerry and puts it on us. Nevertheless, factor another major cost to Americans that Kerry does not want you to know about.

Becoming president would automatically include taking care of all their properties with Secret Service Agents that includes 5 agents per 6 hour shift 4 times a day 365 days of the year for the rest of their lives so long as they own those properties. It comes with being President, once you are elected. It requires us the taxpayers, to pay for this as well as his annual salary, as well as his retirements including the cost of living adjustments to boot, plus salaries and protection for all their real estate property, plus Secret Service Agents, and pay the bills for the rest of his life.

In addition, feed the Secret Service Agents and rotate new ones every 6 hours for the rest of his life. Do the math. Five properties need to be protected. This requires five Secret Service Agents per shift, daily every six hours, per property! That is 20 Secret Service Agents per day per property everyday including Holidays. Wow, what does that cost? Lets say an average of 20 agents per property, each earning a about $60K per agent to survey the perimeters and protect. Now times that by five properties so far. That is if the Kerrys do not buy any more properties afterwards. This also includes the Agents vehicles and repairs, gas, meals, days off, paid vacation, and medical plan visits etc per agent. Who pays? YOU pay, the whole time they are alive after becoming President! Is this the best use of our tax money electing Kerry to take care of all their properties, both foreign and domestic? On the other hand, shouldn't he pay for his own? Yet, the Presidential salary could not afford it. The more I think about paying for Kerrys properties everyday, makes me happy keeping President Bush all the more.

Without raising taxes to boot. How on earth would Kerry pay for everyone to have Healthcare, increase our military, and have us pay to protect his investments, all without raising our taxes? Tax and spend is his party motto. Which really has to make you wonder why anyone with his wealth, would take a salary of that of a U.S. Senator, never mind wanna be President? Do you believe now why he needs to be the Prez? To serve the people? On the other hand, the people serve Him and his wife! Please pass the Mustard and do America a favor and pass this to your friends, lets keep Bush a resident in the White House, and forget about Kerry in the White House! WE CAN'T AFFORD HIM!!!

Jim Boldebook wrote: Joe, this was such a great article.. but a little too long so

I condensed it down. I don't know if you've passed it along . but it really makes a great case for:

Why Kerry must be stopped and Bush must win.

By British Historian Paul Johnson (condensed from National Review article)

This election will redefine what kind of a country the United States is, in it's role as a world leader, and how far the rest of the world can rely upon her to preserve the general safety and protect our civilization.

September 11, 2001 changed the World.and George Bush dramatically. It gave his presidency a purpose and a theme, and imposed on him a mission. He has been absolutely right in estimating the seriousness of the threat international terrorism poses to the entire world and on the need for the U.S. to meet this threat with all the means at its disposal for as long as may be necessary. He has show total consistency, determination, and remarkable courage, despite sneers and jeers, ridicule and venomous opposition.

Americans leaders have been tested before: the dark winter Washington faced in 1777-78, the long succession of military failures Lincoln had to bear and explain before he found a commander who could take the cause to victory. There is nothing glamorous about the Bush presidency. It is all hard pounding, as Wellington said of Waterloo, adding: "Let us see who can pound the hardest.Mastering terrorism fired by a religious fanaticism straight from the Dark Ages requires hard pounding of the dullest, most repetitious kind, in which spectacular victories are not to be looked for.President Bush, with his doggedness and enviable concentration, is the president America needs at this difficult time.

Senator Kerry has not made much of an impression in Europe, or indeed, I gather, in America. There are six good reasons that he should be mistrusted.

First, and perhaps most important, he seems to have no strong convictions about what he would do if given office and power. The content and emphasis of his campaign on terrorism, Iraq, and related issues have varied from week to week, determined by what his advisers, analyzing the polls and other evidence, recommend, rather than by his own judgment and convictions. In a time of crisis, and on an issue involving the security of the world, what is needed is leadership. Kerry is abdicating that duty and proposing, instead, that the voters should lead and he will follow.

Second, Kerry's personal character has, so far, appeared in a bad light. He has always presented himself as a Boston Catholic of presumably Irish origins. This side of Kerry is fundamentally dishonest. He does not follow Catholic teachings, certainly in his views on such issues as abortion, when he feels additional votes are to be won by rejecting Catholic doctrine. Since the campaign began it has emerged that Kerry's origins are not in the Boston-Irish community but in Germanic Judaism. Kerry knew this all along, and deliberately concealed it for political purposes. If a man will mislead about such matters, he will mislead about anything.

Thirdly, Kerry's long record of contradictions and uncertainties as a senator and his apparent inability to pursue a consistent policy on major issues.

Fourth is his posturing over his military record, highlighted by his embarrassing pseudo-military salute when accepting the nomination.

Fifth is his disturbing lifestyle, combining liberal-even radical-politics with being the husband, in succession, of two heiresses, one worth $300 million and the other $1 billion. The Kerry's have five palatial homes and a personal jet, wealth buttressed by the usual team of lawyers and financial advisers to provide the best methods of tax-avoidance.

Sixth and last is the Kerry team: Indeed, it is when one looks at Kerry's closest associates that one has doubts about his suitability. Kerry may dislike his running mate, and those feelings may be reciprocated-but that does not mean a great deal. More important is that the man Kerry would have as his vice president is an ambulance-chasing lawyer of precisely the kind the American system has spawned in recent decades, to its great loss and peril. This aggressive legalism is surely a characteristic America does not want at the top of its constitutional system.

Of Kerry's backers, maybe the most prominent is George Soros, a man who made his billions through the kind of unscrupulous manipulations that (in Marxist folklore) characterize "finance capitalism." This is the man who did everything in his power to wreck the currency of Britain, America's principal ally, during the EU exchange-rate crisis-not out of conviction but simply to make vast sums of money. One has to ask: Why is a man like Soros so eager to see Kerry in the White House?I don't recall any occasion when intellectuals of the Left have produced such partisan election material. These intellectuals-many of them with long and lugubrious records of supporting lost left-wing causes, seem to have a personal hatred of Bush that defies rational analysis.

Behind this hate (one left-wing columnist in Britain actually offered a large sum of money to anyone who would assassinate the president) there is the usual cast of Continental suspects, led by Chirac in France and the super bureaucrats of Brussels. I find it hard to convey the intensity of the desire of official France to replace Bush with Kerry. Bush seems to personify in his simple, uncomplicated self all the things these people most hate about America-precisely because he is so American. This Anti-Americanism, like anti-Semitism, is a mental disease, and the Continentals are currently suffering from a virulent spasm of the infection, as always happens when America exerts strong and unbending leadership.

But there is a far more sinister line of adversaries. All the elements of anarchy and unrest in the Middle East and Muslim Asia and Africa are clamoring and praying for a Kerry victory. The mullahs and the imams, the gunmen and their arms suppliers and paymasters, all those who stand to profit-politically, financially, and emotionally-from the total breakdown of order, the eclipse of democracy, and the defeat of the rule of law, want to see Bush replaced. His defeat on November 2 will be greeted, in Arab capitals, by shouts of triumph from fundamentalist mobs of exactly the kind that greeted the news that the Twin Towers had collapsed and their occupants been exterminated.

I cannot recall any election when the enemies of America all over the world have been so unanimous in hoping for the victory of one candidate. That is the overwhelming reason that John Kerry must be defeated, heavily and comprehensively.
