NORTH POLE CRASH North Pole pilot suffered minor injuries to his hand when his plane lost power on take-off from a small North Pole airstrip Tuesday and crashed. No one in the home was injured.

A 33-year-old man sustained minor injuries after his airplane lost power during takeoff from a North Pole area airstrip Tuesday and crashed, landing upside down with its tail against an Eire Street home, authorities said.

When members of the North Star Volunteer Fire Dept. arrived at the crash site about five minutes after the call, the single-engine Cessna 140 was upside down in the back yard against the house and the pilot was out of the plane.

He had only minor cuts to his hand, said Battallion Chief Ernie Misewicz.

Misewicz said the residents were at home at the time fo the crash shortly after 6 p.m., but the house on Eire Street off Newby Road didn't sustain any noticeable damage to the outside of the structure.

Pilot told Misewicz the aircraft lost power shortly after taking off from a nearby private airstrip, leading to the crash.

"It took out some trees, and when it came down, the trail section leaned against the house," Misewicz said.

The plane wasn't on fire, but a small amount of fuel was leaking out of the plane, Misewicz said.

The pilot shared with his family that the engine is fine. But there was too much damage to the structure to be worth repairing (?)

UPDATE: There was a lot of prayer for this young man's safety, before and after the crash ... & just now he has found a plane frame for a very reasonable price that someone wanted to sell ... who lived in his same area! A rebuild is up and coming!
