Systems In Decay!

Like a finely tuned spaceship, all systems must be go if any mission is to come off smoothly! When any element of a launch is even the slightest bit flawed, catastrophe can not be far behind!

Such, in my opinion, is the case with many elements of the system that we call the Veterans Administration. And no, a man is not a traitor for perceiving any decay that lies before his eyes, and then attempting to do something constructive about it! In fact, a man is a damned fool if he doesn?t sound off and attempt to enact repairs to something that affects hundreds of thousands of his fellow Americans!

There comes a time, however, when repairs become ever more costly and difficult to conduct. A time when the beast needing repair is naught but a rusting hulk that is being held together by nothing more than snot and bailing wire, and when that moment arrives, then it is time to junk the beast and buy a new one!

Only a damned old suicidal cuss continues to ride in a death trap, and in my opinion that is exactly what the Veterans Administration is fast becoming! A clattering mass of corroded nuts and bolts that are being held together with lies, worn-out chewing gum, and contaminated spit!

If you doubt or disagree with this analogy, then I ask you - "What do you call a system that continually buries its mistakes, or worse yet, applies yet another thin coat of cheap makeup to cover up the stretch marks and wrinkles? A product of neglect and corruption, that still clads itself in expensive trappings, while underneath this superficial facade lies nothing more than an agenda of lies, corruption, protectionism and governmentally apathy that promotes naught but even more decay!"

Again, if you doubt this descriptive, then I ask you what you would call a monument to the status quo that has, and will continue to exist (as it now stands), merely as yet another outdated bastion of gargantuan bureaucracy? A monolith to bureaucratic lies and corruption first, and a caring center for veterans medical and personal needs last, if ever!?

For you see, when lies, record destruction and alteration, the me-ist attitude of affluence and unaccountability, the mentality of a gangster at times, and arrogance and ego beyond belief, are all that any entity has left to work with, then that entity becomes naught but a wreck itself that is sorely in need of a cure, or at the very least, a time buying (complete) overhaul! One does not, after all, repair a high compression, racing engine utilizing the broken tools of a century past!

And when those who have embedded themselves within that bloated system just go through the motions, or close their eyes to what is really going on around them, then the whole mess becomes academic and merely an exercise in very expensive futility!

"Should the entire system be scrapped - Hell no", as the basic concept is needed and noble in it's intent and purpose! And a great many who ply their skills within the VA System are also workable parts of an unworkable machine, at least as it now stands! But the reality of the beast is that a cancer exists that is infecting the whole, feeding off of healthy tissue, sucking away vital juices, and existing just to exist!

Every machine has its bugs, but when those bugs are allowed to take over the entire operation, then can any of you say that the mechanism in question is still operating at full efficiency? And any matrix that utilizes lies and liars, inserted to fill in the obvious gaps, is a machine that is doomed to eventually fall apart!

Unfortunately, like many a piece of derelict equipment, many a workable component is also allowed to deteriorate and fall into ruin, right along side of the rest of the junk!! "And so it is!!"
