Bastogne--Sgt, Don Burgett
Hi Marion,
Internet Adopted Daughter and Sgt. Don Burgett
Iceing on the cake
You have heard the story of the dirty old man on the internet!!
HERE IS THE STORY OF THE CLEAN OLD MAN ON THE INTERNET!!!
I am a WW2 Veteran, my wife went to be with our Lord 3 years ago ,after 57 years of great joy. I have two daughters, Terry & Toni, son-in-law Jack, and grand-son Tim. They all thought how do we keep this old Vet. Out of their hair. Being the modern age they all thought ?Internet? so I have been on the internet for years (2). Last few months I have e-mailed with a young lady named Marion, (husband Lee, daughter and grand daughter)who was starting a web dedicated to her father, a Combat Engineer. My daughters always say that I get only the half of stories. Now I have 2 daughters, son-in-law, a grand son and my-self. Put that in old Friden Calculator and it adds up to 5. Now 6 is half dozen so I internet adopt the young lady as a adopted daughter. Now Marion is doing a great job making her web and is a Burgett book reader. My brother Robert was 101st airborne , Bastogne purple heart but K.I.A. on Rhine River. I e-mail with Sgt. Don Burgett and made a meeting with him and Marion. Now Marion lives 200 miles away in Alger ,Michigan. I called Marion and asked if she could make it to the meeting. I hung up and the door bell rang, I opened the door and there stood Marion, riding cloud nine. The meeting was Thursday Dec. 16, 2004 ( Bastogne Day) I learned Don Burgett was the Sgt. of my brothers company and Marion (still on cloud nine)got a full interview with Don Burgett. . Later we meet at Terrys house, grand-daughter Little Angie arrived. We talked and then Marion and Toni took me out to eat supper. Now I mean took me because the Old Vet Paid. It was a happy day.

Dear Adopted father:
It was a great day. We were very blessed and what an honor to be in such esteemed company. And I owe it all to you. It will be a day I will never forget.
Well I'm off to sleepyville, but had to reply before I nodded off.
You adopted and very happy daughter,
Marion
