CONVENIENCE v TRACKING DEVICE?
A Carolina Newspaper has just listed the growing number of major retailers that are now utilizing finger-scanning devices in place of cash, check or plastic! Like the old "Star Trek Classics" where credits are applied to one?s account and subtracted automatically for purchases, some in Carolina are now using a system that you merely place a finger into (I too would be more than happy to give them the finger) and funds are withdrawn accordingly!
Apparently, we now live in a day and age where identity theft and personal data and records are as valuable as pure gold! As a matter of fact, even the Internet is now overrun with - ?Yours Free, or Congratulations - You Have Just Won Scams!? All that you have to do to claim your prize or reward is give them your life?s story, SS #, Bank and Checking Numbers, and even the size of your tool (in European Metric of course)!!
As such, you have to wonder if this new ?Carolina Finger Wave? is really the blessing that some are touting it to be, or if it is just another way of knowing your every move, gathering personal data to be sold or shared at will, or as is claimed, a time-saving boon to the human race?
Naturally, just like those Internet scams, before you can insert your finger into the identification unit, you have to first fill out a life?s history. Before long, we may just get a number tattooed upon our forearm as a means of ID! ?Naw, that has already been done - Nazi Germany, circa - 1930s and 40s!!?
Hey, maybe we can call this new finger - scan the ?Plastic-less - Gulag Platinum Card?, or the ?Orwell - Middle Finger Salute??
