Show of hands now, who wants to volunteer to pick the porcupine quills out of the pit bull? :ek:
My karma cup is out for repairs right now, so that disqualifies me.

Oh I just can't stand to look at that. Bern do you know this dog? What about his eye sight?I wished we would stop breeding these dogs. They areforever in trouble with human stupidity involved more often than not.

Obviously he's dumb enough to keep biting! Damn, the porcupine must be bald, judging by the way the dog looks. I had a german shepard do that but not so many quills. i was able to take them out myself. That looks like a job for "SUPERVET."

Several years ago we had a dog who was a half breed. ? collie and had the features of one, the other ? St. Bernard and was that size. Sam found a porcupine and got a face full of quills. We took him to the vet, he got a shot of some really good drugs and they removed the quills.

The next day, I?m not kidding, he found the porcupine again. He came home, barked at the back door, when I opened the door, he ran to the car. Guess he thought he?d get another fix. I tied him to the fork in a tree and pulled out the pliers. Sam never found another porcupine.

Stay healthy,
Andy

Default YEEOW!!

You know THAT smarts! And speaking of smarts,......this dog seems to be lacking alot.

I've removed, and helped remove, quills from several dogs; both my own and friends. Only had to take one of mine to the vet once. He had two pretty far back on the roof of his mouth that I couldn't get to.

Here's some tips: Porcupine quills are hollow and filled with air. If you cut the ends off they deflate a little bit, making them a little easier to remove. However, they are also barbed so it's still a bit of a chore. I found it was easier if you could pull them on through; like through a cheek, lip, or ear. Use pliers of course. Most dogs have a pretty high tolerance for pain. The most sensitive part was the nose, as you would guess. Between their toes, also.

It's important that you get them all. I had a friend that lost his German Shepard from the infection of a quill that he had missed. It was a small one on the inside of the mouth near the jaw hinge. When it finally made him sick, he went downhill fast. The vet couldn't save him with antibiotics.

I don't know which dog is dumber; this one or the one biting his own paw.

Speakin' of paws...

Didja hear the one about the queer bear who laid his "pa-w" on the table?
