Politicians And Our Military!
What do many within our political system really think if the men and women who are, at this very moment, risking their lives for us all? For that matter, do these very same politicos ever take a minute to think back and ponder the dedication of the legions of American troopers who laid it all upon the line in generations past - apparently not, not many of them anyway!
A Bill (HR 2369) was recently introduced into Congress. The title of this worthwhile Bill is ?Honoring Our Fallen POWs? and it would pay long overdue homage to those who died while being held captive of our brutal enemies over the past 64 years by awarding to them (posthumously) a Purple Heart Medal.
Now one would think that this was a no-brainer, in that every patriotic member of Congress would back such an effort. Not only that, but you would automatically assume that such a Bill would be understood by government and the private sector alike. I mean, what is not to understand?
Contrary to what many may believe, however, the Purple Heart was not awarded (even after death) to most who expired of starvation, beatings, medical neglect etc., in Prisoner of War facilities over the years. And for the record, we have even contacted several veteran?s groups seeking their most valued support, and even within their ranks, many were of the assumption that these departed troopers were awarded this Medal posthumously - but they were not!!
HR 2369, Honoring Our Fallen Prisoners of War would rectify this situation and finally send the message that ?We Have Not Forgotten!? All that is needed now is moral support from each and every one of us who genuinely appreciate our dearly departed comrades at arms! A simple telephone call, FAX, e-mail or letter to your congressmen or senators showing your personal support would go a long way in getting this Bill passed into law, but we desperately need your help. The brave POWs who died for us all in enemy captivity would do no less for you were the situations reversed!
