Vested Logic - Test Cases?

With North Carolina, California, Arizona and New Mexico (just to mention a few) reeling under the weight of forced illegal immigration, the vested excuses are still flowing from the mouths of those who hire this dirt cheap labor!

You know, these people who employ illegals aren?t all that much different from the slavers that existed some 145 years ago. Then too, the excuse was cheap (or free) labor was essential to profit. Unfortunately, however, all the profit in the world was not enough to satiate a few, and so it is again today!

It must be fairly noted, however, that an attempt (be it ever so feeble) is being made to turn the tide of decay in a few areas. In Hawaii, a State that relies heavily upon tourism, a cap is being placed on gasoline prices (somewhere around $2.80 a gallon, or still about $2.00 a gallon more than it is worth). And in North Carolina, they are kicking around the idea of fining employers who hire illegals!

I am sure that you can recall how when all of the heat was being applied to the bootleggers of the 30s, they too began to branch out into legitimate business. The same was true when big tobacco was sent reeling by lawsuits, federal action, and health concerns! So I guess it is just human nature (another word for greed) for some manufacturers and farmers (ranchers too), to try to stall the inevitable until they can diversify in to other acceptable areas. "After all, huge farm subsidies alone can not keep caviar and prime rib upon the old kitchen table!!"

The only problem as I see it, is that politics too is sometimes an industry that is in need an overhaul. After all, were it not for a few politicos in the hip pockets of certain prime movers, many more aspects of society might soon fall under the vigilant eyes of justice!

Just think back a bit, and not all that far at that! How many politicians have been exposed in recent years for (allegedly) crooked dealings! Unfortunately, however, many of them escape the claws of (real) justice, and those who are brought to account, often slither away with minimal damage!

Hell, there have been politicians who have bounced a bushel of checks, sold favors to cronies, extorted until their hearts were content, destroyed lives for economic gain, and maybe even worse, until some commoner (that?s you or I) threatens to upset their apple-cart of affluence! ?And as a matter of fact, even the friends of these well placed users, quickly grow mute or abandon ship when the manure generated by their dealings begins to splatter in all directions!?

And when a man (any man) retracts what he really believes in just to be politically correct or to remain the recipient of favors, that man too, has lost part of the essence of truth and humanity (opinion)!

But not to worry, as the norms of the past (the things that made us great to begin with) are truly archaic in today?s society! Valueless Items such as truth, honor, integrity, fair play, morality and dignity, although they still can be found in the dictionary, have all but vanished from reality and practice! ?And is this not an omen of far more tragic and ominous things to come??
