I have often covered the border issue from the prospective on the northern side of the fence. This time, however, I will attempt to shed a little daylight upon the flip side of the coin - the Mexican side!

Granted, we are in the midst of a slow social/economic death (opinion) as a result of a mass influx of bodies from points south. But what of the Hispanics themselves who are being driven north because Mexican oil money, political intrigues, foreign aid, and other forms of income, may not be getting any further than the deep pockets of the selected few!

And while all of this crying is going on, usually initiated by the people who are living the good life, the Mexicans, Central and South Americans who are fleeing north like a hoard before the onslaught of several billion army ants, continue to cross and die in ever increasing numbers!

How is this for a headline: ?460 BORDER CROSSERS DIE IN THE LAST YEAR ALONE!? The actual figure, of course, is probably far greater than what is being advertised, but at least this gives you some idea of this human tragedy. A tragedy not of the Middle East or Asia, but one that is taking place right here on our southern borders!

It also says, at least in my opinion, that the groups who now seek to slow this illegal influx may be doing a service to both the illegals and our nation alike, by stopping this flood before it enters the United States!?

Not only are our overly strained social and criminal officials being benefited by stopping these poor people at the border, but also the illegals themselves may be saved from possible disaster!

This border country out here is about as friendly as a polecat in heat! Death can overtake you in many different ways, including dehydration, exposure, snakes, deadly insects, unfriendly wildlife, numerous accidents, and yes, even mountain lions. And let us never forget the Mexican Border Bandits themselves who prey upon their own people, or the coyotes (illegal alien transporters) who abandon their charges in a heartbeat at the first sign of trouble - real winners these?

As a matter of fact, posters have been placed along the US/MEXICO BORDER that list the names of illegal immigrants found dead after their unsuccessful attempts to cross into the United States.

HERE ARE SOME FIGURES FOR YOU TO CHEW ON:

Did you know that some 3600 people have died in the last ten years alone, attempting to illegally cross the border, and of these, about 1/3 have never been identified. ?That is one helluva hard and sad way to go, is it not??

In just the last year or so alone, a whopping 460 illegals have met their end in this no-man?s land of death that marks the dividing line between Mexico and the United States? That far exceeds the previous record set back in the year 2000 (383 deaths)! And more than half of these deaths have occurred in Arizona, but the States of California, Texas and New Mexico have also seen their share of these needless expirations!

Since the onset of Operation Gatekeeper in 1994, much of the illegal border traffic has shifted to the east of the City of San Diego, and into the mountains and deserts of the southwest. And this is an area that even an ardent survivalist would find challenging, if not terminal! Certainly not a walk in the park on a sunny, Sunday afternoon, as thousands have unfortunately found out!! Temperatures alone in this region, can exceed 110 degrees, there is no water, no shade, and little hope for those who underestimate the scope of this fool-hearty endeavor!

And at night, just the opposite occurs! The temperature plummets, the snakes and other predators go on the prowl, and
death waits just beyond every hill and behind every bend in this horrendous terrain! As a matter of fact, in Arizona alone, the Border Patrol has been forced to attain a refrigerator truck to store the half eaten, shriveled up, or bloated carcasses of those who underestimated the forces of nature!

And yet they still come, even with the magnificent (though losing) job being undertaken by our Border Patrol! A new plan has been put into motion by U.S. authorities to try to partially eliminate this dire situation. Some 20,000 of these chronic border crossers have been flown to Mexico City (far removed from the International Border) in an effort to dissuade their never-ending treks northward. ?I am sure that this has pleased Vicente Fox no end??

And for the record, rescues by our own Border Patrol are also on the rise! This year alone, almost 2600 migrants have been rescued and saved from almost certain death. Of course, if you listen to the bleeding hearts on both sides of the border, this fact is rarely (if ever) mentioned!!

And also for the record, when traversing the badlands along the International Border, you can not possibly carry enough water to see you through this harrowing trek!! And even considering the extensive search and rescue efforts by our border enforcement agencies, many don?t make it and are never found, alive in any event!
