Default Winter is here

Fired up the wood stove tonite for the first time this season, and now the first snow is falling. I've got to get my wood shed built and filled. Damn the time flies.

As I sit here on this fine Thanksgiving morning, it is 12 degrees and a very strong north wind blowing, winter has been here for a couple months! At least in my little piece of the world!

Happy Turkey Day to all!!!!

Default Yep

As I sit here it's snowing. Only about an inch but it's real white and pretty. Won't look at the temp, I find than depressing. One of my son's is home and we're driving to Mom's house for dinner. She makes the best apple pie with walnuts and some coffee ice cream on top.

Stay healthy,
Andy

Happy Turkey Day, Y'all!!!

Snowy and beautiful here, too, and the company can't be beat. 'Tis but one of the many thing for which I am thankful.

Never thought I'd see a white Thanksgiving. April was merely a dress rehearsal. Forgot for a moment where I was this morning when, naked, I let the dog out.

Its too cold to let the dog out naked......You should at least put the little doggie boots on his paws

Chas

BobK:

No, no, no, you don't understand:

Dog: fur coat year around
Gracie O'Hara: had the radio on

Thankfully, it's the much-ballyhooed "dry cold"...

...I later put on some clothes & practiced my bunker shot out of the snow

If I put on a coat now, what the hell will I do when it gets cold???

Happy Turkey Day... you Turkey!

Lemme see heanh now, it's been near bout EIGHT MONTHS since I put on anthing other than my 'high-water britches" (shorts to most folks)........March 29th last time I put on "long-legged" pants! ......We'un's even git ta wear shorts to Church at my Church down heanh!

We got about 2" here in Gardner, MA on T-Day. What I hate about the first snowfall is that we have to re-train ourselves on how to drive in this stuff every year...then there's the new-drivers in their very first snowstorm. God help us! My wife and I were on our way to Longfellow's Wayside Inn yesterday morning to do our annual Thanksgiving Day Visitor Greeting Duty. We were on Rt.117 East in Lancaster during the heaviest part of the storm. Along comes this pickup, heading west, being driven by what we estimated was a 17-19 year old girl. All of sudden she loses control, goes into a spin...right at us! I don't know how the hell I managed to... 1.) avoid her spinning truck and... 2.) the 2-foot high brick wall in front of someone's house, but I did. She finally stopped, got out of the truck, looked around with glazed eyes (my wife, a nurse, thinks she was in shock), got back in the truck, put it in reverse, nearly hit us again, put it in drive, then took off in the opposite direction! By the time we got to the Inn, I needed a drink!
