![]() Last night, I was watching 20/20 on ABC and they had a story about this dude who impersonated being a Navy Officer who was a fighter pilot as a pick up line to get women. He also told some of them he was a Navy Seal Officer.
He fooled about eight different women in the Houston area about his background until the law caught up with him for forgery and he's serving time in prison. There was one of those women's grandpa who was a fighter pilot in the Korean War told her this dude needs to have some checking done on him because he couldn't tell him the weight of the fuel in his jet and that's something all pilots know. And she still didn't believe he was a phoney. My wife and I disagree on this subject. I told her those women should have been more cautious about newly acquainted men who come across as though they are their Knight In Shiney Armor. I sympathize with these women being deceived, but they should have been a little more cautious. This is the 21st century. not the 18th century. Anyone can go to 20/20.com to get more information on this dude. I was wondering what anybody's thoughts was on this matter. |

![]() But in today's society you must be careful. I have been amazed at how easy some folks get fooled. When studying psychology we learned that folks love a smooth talker. Sociopaths can fool just about anyone. Including some of us who have been around the block a few times like Bob K. and me. Usually if the they are tooooooo good to be true they aren't the real thing.

![]() If I believed every pick up lined ever used on me I'd be one stupid chick. I feel bad for them in the fact that they not to bright.
My father served in the Navy and was stationed in Australia. He was the type that claimed he was "all that" A basic liar. My mom didn't knowhe even serveduntil she tried to get child support for my brother and me he was discharged for mental problems. Basic line is most people who did do allot of the Seals and all that other stuff usually don't brag about. I think guys like him suck. |

![]() Hey Bingo, I won $50.00, is that Bingo. What a maroon this guy was got what he deserved though in jail. The woman who fell for his line I feel for them. Man I remember when I was young and in the army and if told a girl you were the army she wanted nothing to do with you (of course this was the late 60's and early 70's then so being in the military was not a popular thing).

![]() Thanks everyone for replying to my message.
What I find so surprising is we still have some wannabees (not as many as some years back) hanging out on street corners every now and then panhandling carrying signs saying "Vietnam Vet, Please Help". Some of them even got the nerve to put Ranger or Special Forces Patches on their fatigues. Some even wore patches of the 82nd Airborne and from the information I was told, the 82nd never went to Vietnam. Oh well, I guess it all depends what kind of patches they're able to get determines what unit they're try to B.S. everyone they was with. The problem is the average Joe Blow citizen doesn't know what those patches represent and thinks he's just someone the govertment cast aside after the war.

![]() Waterhole a Brigade or a Battalion from the 82nd went to Vietnam during the Tet offensive in 1968, forget when they left though.
