Gettin' old
August 23, 2006:
40 years ago today I was deep within the bowels of a mountain known as "Site R" outside of Fort Ritchie, Maryland when a Sargeant came into me and told me that I had to get to the hospital where my wife had just been taken. An hour later I walk up to the Imformation Desk at the Waynesboro, Pa. hospital and they send me upstairs. I get into the elevator and when I get to the floor the door opens and right in front of me is a viewing window and front and center in that window they are tenderly laying a newborn baby into a bassinet which is marked "Therese Michelle Romph, 7 lb. 5 oz., Mom; Joanne, Dad; John" and I gotta smile looking down on that pretty blonde haired, blue eyed baby and I swear she smiled back at me, her Daddy.
