![]() Although most politicians are sincere in wanting to make a real and honest difference, far too many see elected office as a license to steal, a means to further their own agenda, the ambitions of political party, or even a means to absolute control. And for anyone who disputes or takes offense at my analogy, I invite them to examine the public records for just the last decade.
Many a politician whom the majority trusted enough to elect to offices of great, and even dire responsibility, have wantonly and maliciously betrayed that trust. In some cases, it is even nearly impossible to determine what nation these political entrepreneurs truly represent. Some in fact, have become more internationalist than a citizen of these United States. And though the growing trend abroad to declare oneself as a political position-holder for life could never happen here in the cradle of liberty, it does give one cause for some alarm. After all, how many terms of office did the illustrious Franklin Roosevelt serve? And could this ever happen again by merely altering election laws? It is sad but true, at least in my opinion, that many a politico who is not openly pandering their position for personal profit, power, or adulation, is more in-tune to foreign demand than they are to the needs and mandates of their own citizenry. And this, again in my opinion, is how empires, and even democracies, stumble and lose touch with their own people along the way! VERITAS (Truth)
