Secretary of the Army Thomas E. White pins a Purple Heart on Spc. Ricardo A. Miranda from Company C, 1st Battalion 87th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York for wounds received during Operation Anaconda in early March. White along with Army Chief of Staff Gen. Eric K. Shinseki awarded 17 Purple Hearts yesterday to soldiers undergoing treatment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C for wounds received during combat in Afghanistan.
