Safety checkers aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73) give the o.k. to launch an F/A-18 from one of four steam driven catapults. Safety is of paramount importance in the Navy. George Washington, homeported in Norfolk, Va., and is on a regularly scheduled deployment that included support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Southern Watch.
