Personnelman 3rd Class Mathew Johnson participates in a ping pong tournament held at the People?s Liberation Army, North Sea Fleet, base. Petty Officer Johnson?s finish was the best among the U.S. Navy participants from the U.S. Navy?s Spruance class destroyer USS Paul F. Foster (DD 964). For taking the top spot he was awarded a friendship pennant from his Chinese counterpart. Paul F. Foster, homeported in Everett, Wash., is the first U.S. Navy ship to visit mainland China since the March 2001 incident when a Chinese fighter collided with a U.S. Navy EP-3E ?Aries? reconnaissance aircraft.
