A member of the U.S. Navy's premiere exhibition skydiving team, the "Leap Frogs," is about to land at Naval Support Activity Mid-south during a exhibition. The U.S. Navy Parachute Team is a 15-man unit comprised entirely of U.S. Navy SEAL (Sea, Air, and Land) special warfare personnel. Each member comes to the team for a three years tour of duty. The parachute team was formed in 1969 when Navy Seals and Frogmen volunteered to perform at weekend air shows. The team was officially commissioned as the U.S. Navy Parachute Team "Leap Frogs" in 1974 by the Chief of Naval Operations and assigned the mission of demonstrating Navy special warfare excellence, while assisting in Navy recruiting efforts throughout the United States.
