Aviation Ordnancemen from the ?Stingers? of Strike Fighter Squadron One One Three (VFA-113) load an AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile (AMRAAM) onto an F/A-18C Hornet aboard USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The AMRAAM is a follow-on to the AIM-7 Sparrow missile series, and is faster, smaller, and lighter, and has improved capabilities against low-altitude targets. It also is less dependent upon the fire-control system of the aircraft.
