An F404-GE-400 jet engineused in the F/A-18 Hornet, is tested on the fantail of USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). After either routine maintenance or necessary repairs are completed on theses engines, members of the Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Department (AIMD) test the engines prior to replacing them in aircraft. Kitty Hawk and embarked Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) are supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
