An F/A-18E Super Hornet from the ?Top Hatters? of Strike Fighter Squadron Fourteen (VFA-14) launches from USS Nimitz (CVN 68). This is one of four Super Hornets flown from Nimitz to USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) in the Arabian Gulf so pilots can get familiar with the battle space. The Super Hornet has proved to be an excellent aircraft and its cost per flight hour is 40% of the F-14 Tomcat and requires 75% less labor hours per flight hour. Nimitz is enroute to the Central Command Area of Operations to participate in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
