Author Thread   frisco-kid Senior Member Registered: August 2001 Posts: 2,574 Sun May 11, 2003 11:10am This photo was taken near Kon Tum, in the Central Highlands. Some rugged country. I served in this area FALL66-SPRING67 with the 101st ABN. Then, as now, this was some beautiful countryside. Flying over some of these picturesque valleys in helicopters, looking down on meandering rivers and streams and cascading waterfalls, was quite deceiving of the sudden violence and death that could erupt once we were on the ground. It was great to visit this part of the country again without the dry mouth, churning stomach, and nervous checking and re-checking of weapons prior to being inserted somewhere in these mountains. ------------------------------ Tom
