OK...just to share some pics of mine. I'm also a fan of the clouds and sunsets. This summer there was a tornadic storm a few miles away. Was awesome to see the wall cloud. I sat and watched it, even through a bit of hail. The pictures ended up being very cruddy(only the top one is from that, none of em are that great though.)

Last week we had a thunderstorm with major lightning. I have not seen or heard anything like this since I left New York 8 years ago. There is nothing like a good thunderstorm. This photo was taken off of Imperial Beach.
Catman, I also get giddy when mother nature shifts in her chair. I think it has alot to do with living in a place that gets Zero weather, the sun shining all the time gets old. |

Bern...up here in the "North Woods", we get the full range of weather. Everything from blizards, to tornados, drought and floods. I bet that if you talked to some of the sailors on the Great Lakes, they would swear they have been through hurricanes out there, ( I know this is not possible, but the lakes do in deed get very wild and wolly sometimes).
Funny that you guys see so little lightning out there, wonder if it is because you are so close to the ocean. Hurricanes have very, very little lightning until after they make landfall. No friction between the clouds and water, thus little or no lightning. Trav P.S. Great photos Bern, thanks for sharing!

There's something remarkable about lightening. Dangerous for sure but definitely remarkable. My Dad was fascinated by it.
