Default Liberal Bias in Our Schools

Sponsored by the Center for Individual Freedom
Dear Friend,

Do you know when the Declaration of Independence was signed? How about the U.S. Constitution? Do you know what the first ten amendments to the Constitution are called?

Sadly, most American students do not know the answers to these basic questions about our nation?s history and government.

The Center for Individual Freedom needs your help today to change this dangerous trend of civic illiteracy.

Now, more than ever, it is important for our nation?s youth, and every American, to know and understand the history of our great country, the principles on which it was founded and the origins of our freedoms that we all too often take for granted.

Yet, instead of emphasizing the teaching of basic American history and civics in our public schools, liberal school administrators have hijacked our classrooms with curricula that undermine American values and the democratic principles that make America so great.

With your support, the Center for Individual Freedom can advance the charge against the liberal interests invading our public schools. Most recently, the Center, together with a coalition of angry parents, fought hard against the anti-American and anti-George W. Bush propaganda implemented in a 12th grade international affairs course.

In Farmington Hills, Michigan, the public school superintendent defended the curriculum by asserting that students ?need to understand that people hate Americans.? Likewise, elected school board members defended the use of left-wing, anti-American, hate-inciting materials from websites like Alternet.org, Indymedia.org, Progressive.org and War-times.org. The Center and its coalition of parents forced the school board to provide a more balanced curriculum, including foreign policy information from reliable sources such as Whitehouse.gov.

The Center?s efforts were a resounding success earning the Center both local and national media attention.

Unfortunately, the battle does not end there. The liberals? assault on American history and government is a multi-front war being fought in cities and towns across the country. The biggest task for the Center in countering leftist domination of our public schools is to raise the funds necessary to defeat the efforts of these well-funded liberals and reverse the demise of civics and social studies. The left-wing anti-American indoctrination and dumbing-down of America?s youth has got to stop!

How can this be accomplished?

With your support, the Center for Individual Freedom can continue its educational, legislative and litigation efforts to stop liberal revisionists dead in their tracks. For example, the Center is proposing legislation to state legislators designed to mandate a better social studies curricula. This legislation is similar to the legislation passed in Colorado, mandating that all high school students complete a federal and state government course prior to graduation.

In addition, the Center will actively counter the activities of groups like the National Education Association (NEA) and its state affiliates for their promotion of Leftist propaganda.

American history textbooks authored by liberals like Howard Zinn are widely used in the public schools. But these authors don?t represent the ideas that should be taught to our students. For instance, Zinn attacks the U.S. liberation of Afghanistan in a piece posted on Progressive.org: ?That explains why this government, not knowing exactly where to find the criminals of September 11, will just go ahead and invade and bomb Afghanistan, killing thousands of people, driving hundreds of thousands from their homes, and still not know where the criminals are.?

Is this the kind of person you want your children relying on to learn what really happened in American history?

If you care about preserving American history as it really happened, and not according to left-wing revisionists, then I urge you to donate to the Center for Individual Freedom today. We cannot achieve reform in our schools without your help!

In the meantime, we thought you would enjoy taking a little history quiz for yourself. Click here to see how you measure up in your knowledge of American history.

Thanks Griz for the intel .I knew they were dumbing down the kids today but indoctrinating them to hate America isn't in the School curriculum any of us voted for. Bring back readin' writin' and rithmatic' and some good US American History that celebrates our Independence back in 1776 and the war of 1812 and other turning points that make us Americans envied by the rest of the world.....

Those who don't learn from American history may be doomed to repeat it! In my opinion, one must know where he has been before he can figure out where he is going!

History to me, is as essential as eating. And for the record, history need not always be ancient to have an impact. In reality, what took place just yesterday can just as surely effect tomorrow, as what took place a century or two ago! History is a day by day learning lesson! Also, reading history (to me) is of far more interest than just reading any fictional novel ever published!
