The Honorable Thomas E. White, secretary of the Army, gives a speech to boy scouts and troop leaders July 24 at the opening ceremony of the 2001 National Boy Scout Jamboree held at Fort A.P. Hill, Va. This year?s 10-day jamboree hosted more than 32,000 troops from across the country. The Army has supported every national scout jamboree since 1937.
