The Chief of Naval Operations, Adm. Vern Clark, smiles after a Sailor asks for permission to be CNO for a day. Adm. Clark was aboard USS La Salle (AGF 3) addressing Sailors assigned to Commander Sixth Fleet staff, La Salle and the Naval Support Activity, Gaeta, at an All Hands call. The CNO spoke with the Sailors about the importance of their overseas service in and around the Mediterranean. "We have to have a Navy that's out and about," Clark told them.
