Overview: General Nathanael Greene marched against the British forces in South Carolina led by Lt Colonel Francis Rawdon. On April 25, Greene's men (about 1,550 strong) reached Hobkirk's Hill where they were attacked by the British force of 900 men. The British won the day but ended up retreating towards Charleston in order to shorten his communications line.
