Motor Boat Ionita (1914)

Hyac, a 55-foot motor boat, was built in 1914 at Trenton, Michigan, for use as a pleasure craft on the Great Lakes. Acquired by the Navy in August 1917 and commissioned as USS Ionita (SP-388) a month later, she was employed for patrol duties in the Detroit River area. Following the end of World War I, Ionita served at the Naval Training Camp, Detroit. She was sold in November 1919.
