USS Noble, a 10,500-ton Haskell class attack transport, was built at Richmond, California, for the U.S. Maritime Commission. She was acquired by the Navy in October 1944 and commissioned at that time. In early 1945, she was sent to the Western Pacific, where she participated in the Okinawa campaign during the spring. Following Japan's capitulation in August 1945, Noble helped repatriate allied prisoners of war and transported U.S. servicemen back to the United States. She remained active through the later 1940s, serving with the Atlantic Fleet from 1946 to 1949, then shifting to the Pacific.

In August 1950, after the outbreak of the Korean War, Noble steamed to the war zone and took part in the Inchon invasion the next month. The ship continued her activities in the Korean area through the end of the conflict in mid-1953. During the remainder of the 1950s and into the 1960s, Noble operated with the Pacific fleet, making periodic deployments to the Far East. The Cuban missile crisis in October 1962 brought her back to the Atlantic area briefly, after which she returned to the West Coast. She made one more Western Pacific deployment in 1963. USS Noble decommissioned in July 1964 and was transferred to Spain in the following December. Renamed Aragon, she served in the Spanish Navy until 1980.
