Always keep your clothes and your weapons where you can find them in the dark -- Robert Heinlein |
USS Resolute, a 4175-ton auxiliary cruiser and transport, was built at Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1894 as the passenger steamer Yorktown. Purchased by the Navy in April 1898, she was employed during the Spanish-American War as a lightly-armed auxiliary cruiser and as a transport. Decommissioned in December 1898, Resolute was transferred to the War Department the next month, and became the U.S. Army Transport Rawlins. She returned to commercial service in 1902 and was scrapped in about 1928.
