Members of the 82nd Airborne launched Operation O.K. Corral on October 19, 2003 in Ar Ramadi. The operation was designed as a cordon and search mission to seize any weapons and detain any suspicious persons.

Operation O.K. Corral netted a large weapons cache and 91 people for further questioning. Four former senior Iraqi Army officers were among those detained for organizing anti-coaltion activities.
