Kuwait Navy Base / Camp Patriot
Kuwait Navy Base and Camp Patriot are located on the Southeast coast of Kuwait.

As of May 2003 over 3,000 joint-servicemembers were stationed at Kuwait Navy Base and Camp Patriot, supporting Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Camp Patriot is home to nearly 3,000 U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airman and Coast Guardsmen forward deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the multi-national coalition effort to liberate the Iraqi people, eliminate Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, and end the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Following just 18 days of construction, the U.S. Navy's Elevated Causeway System-Modular (ELCAS (M)) was completed at Camp Patriot. ELCAS (M) is an expeditionary pier used to bridge the surf zone, providing an interface between lighterage, cargo vessels and the beach. Constructed by the U.S. Navy Seabees from both U.S. coastlines, this 1,400-foot pier is being used to support Joint Logistics Over the Shore (JLOTS), and the backload of what will be thousands of cargo containers holding military supplies and equipment returning home from Operation Iraqi Freedom. ELCAS (M) was constructed in a joint effort by Amphibious Construction Battalions (ACB) One, homeported in Coronado, Calif., and ACB-2, homeported in Little Creek, Va. Camp Patriot is currently home to the only Amphibious Seabees in the United States Navy - specializing in coastal construction and ship to shore throughput.

Under the glow of lights from the Elevated Causeway System-Modular (ELCAS(M)), Navy Seabees and Army Transportation Companies continue the backload of military supplies and ammunition for U.S. Marines and British Royal Marines following their role in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Backloads are taking place on all possible fronts at Camp Patriot, from barge ferry's stabbing the Seabee kept beaches, to Landing Craft Utility (LCU) vessels getting loaded down from the ELCAS(M). Camp Patriot's 24-hour operational capability helps to ensure that the men and women of the 24th and 15th Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU) got home quicker.
